Hi, I have a query about the gas struts
Last couple of times we used our MH we had to tie to door handle back to stop the door swinging about.
I noticed the door doesn't open fully flat against the side. Maybe 8 inches away so too far for any sort of stay
Only bought it in April so been like that since we got it
Just took the strut off and it does nothing.. it just slides in and out with no resistance. So is only working as a check strap.. but seems a bit short if anything as puts strain on the window when it reaches its limit.
Is it supposed to gas be pressurised to push the door open? or just a shock absorber/damper like they put on some motorbike steering to stop the door slamming? or is it just a check strap?
If I leave the strut off I can open the door properly and it goes flat against the side meaning I can could fit a stay
Depending on what it does I'm deciding if its worth looking for a slightly longer one or do away with it.
