Has anyone found a decent replacement for their restraint catch. Our original is well worn and is placed near the hinge edge of the door, thinking it would be better positioned near the outer edge so door is closer to the van when open. Cheers

Hi
On our last M/H, a Swift Escape, the restraint broke do to a gust of wind while in Brittany. When I returned I contacted Johns Cross 01508 881288 after I’m sure I must have got referred to from another post on here. Very good service and they supplied a replacement.i may have had to send a photo if I remember. They also give a Fun discount and if you scroll down to the bottom of page, they advertise on here.

Have been looking on line, but the catches all seem to be the plastic ones like the knackered one we already have.

I purchased 5 sets of the worn catch on our last moho with the plan of changing them over when they started to wear. The first set was still good when I sold the van three years later. I think the whole five sets were about £10 off ebay.

other than that you can find the latching type which need a finger prod to un latch them (but the spring tends to fail in about the same time as the plastic latches so...)

I use a good quality sucker with some thin elastic cord. Now on 3rd year. Stops the wind getting hold of the door in the first place so works a treat. We don't take sucker off when travelling either.

I used a home-made version with embedded magnets. Nothing to go wrong.

Make sure your door will open more before fitting the catch as some are restricted.
