Our door doesn't work on the central locking system but I'm assuming that it's basically a Fiat Ducato base complete with their system which does have central locking and then Hymer put the conversion on and they don't extend the electrical central locking to the habitation foot and/or the boot/garage.
From my perspective, it's less to go wrong. At least you can access the vehicle through the habitation door should you need to because of an electrical malfunction or flat battery.

Thanks Gy’s.. yes it’s on a Fiat Ducato Base 2015 , no base wiring on these. Contact points all clean.
We are down in Spain so thankfully we have security . I just find it strange that things tend to go down when you are either planning to go or just a few days in . The Habitation battery went down at Canterbury but the door went all of a sudden confused. Com guess it’s a Fiat dealer job .. Thanks anyway all the best.

Have you tried removing the contact plates and checked the wires which connect to the rear of them ?

No good going to a Fiat dealer because the wiring and mechanisms for the habitation door will have been supplied and fitted by the converter, not Fiat. I suspect that you need a motorhome repair specialist.

Most problems with the hab door not locking correctly is usually down to a snapped wire in the flexi rubber at the bottom of the door .I have found the wire is quite stiff .so is susceptible to snapping after constant back ward and forward use. This can be checked by pulling your flexi cover to one side to give access to the wire .I get hold of each wire separately as near to the door frame as possible and the other end at the other end of the flexi and pull ,if broken you will feel it stretch ,keep check each one until you find the damaged wire then it can be repaired .I have always replaced the wire with a softer wire (same colour) that flexes much better, connected at each end and fit a heat sleeve to keep dry. Then replace rubber sleeve back in position .Half an hour job done .:drink:lol

By the sound of it the OP's van uses contacts on door and door jam which make a circuit when the door is closed, so no flexible wire connection. That was what me previous Adria MH used. But you need to make sure contacts are clean and the spring loaded side works.

In that case it would be worth checking the contacts with a voltmeter, or working the other way check through the pins for continuity as they should go through the solenoid.

ny ldea s as to why the central locking doesn’t work on the Habitation door ?

Im wondering do you have an option on the vehicle to select the type of locking that is in operation..
On the transits for eg you have the option of 3 different forms of central locking which you can select using the dash controlls..
On mine they effect how the hab door locks and opens...ie depending on what option is selected it can take a second press of the fob to lock the hab door.
Im sure it will still be a function of the base vehicle wiring...
Just instead of a sliding door or rear van doors it will control the hab door... and just to make it more fustrating be part of the can bus network or whatever system they use
Andy.

This sounds exactly like the problem I have with the habitation door on mine. Press the button on the remote, and it can be heard locking. Pressing again, it can be heard unlocking but the door still cannot be opened from outside. From inside, it can be opened.

According to the dealer, its a two hour fix. He'll be doing it, as its a warranty job. If I can remember something for longer than a goldfish, I'll try to find out the problem and how it was solved.

Not saying your dealer is the same as mine, but the “gold standard” warranty on mine excluded handles and locks, as I found out when the handle mechanism broke!

I'll bear that in mind before he even starts the job. Thanks for the heads up.

I got off the phone with the dealer a few minutes ago. The girl I spoke to that deals with warranty claims has informed me that it is covered under the terms of the warranty. The big problem I have now is to get the EGR recall sorted in the same visit. Despite being able to prove that it is needed, they wont do it until word is received from the importer.

For any that are unaware, there is an Italian Government website that lists all recalls.

Thanks for that. Without looking, I would expect that you are 100% correct. Even when speaking to the girl on the phone I just mentioned stated that "it needs parts!"

Don't want to hi-jack this thread but we had the same problem with our Hartal door. I checked the wires for continuity and they were fine. Took it to a dealer and he diagnosed that a new locking motor was needed. This was in October 2017. The dealer has still not received the part from Bailey and we have come away to Spain until March.
Then strangely, it started working when locking the doors with the remote. The habitation door now locks perfectly well but it doesn't open with the remote. Have to use the key if outside the van or the handle if inside. So not sure the diagnosis is correct.

Check the locking bolts that latch door to body on the side of the door, they can create a problem if they are not aligned properly, although they are ajustable (they are on mine) I have found a few squirts of WD40 has cured the problem on numerous occasions, had this problem a few times more often in hot weather.

@dabhand-thanks for this. Can't see I can adjust the locking bolt on the side of the door. Tried the driver's door with key a few times but no luck. Will try some silicone lubricant (as I don't like WD40 unless displacing damp).

There’s 3 or 4 on mine not the actual centre, top and bottom sliders.

Just to update on my issue (in case it helps)-very strange. To recap, hab door after failing to lock unless using the key, started locking with the remote but wouldn't unlock with remote despite a solid clunk coming from the hab door lock. Then, just to experiment, tried locking the van with the Gemini alarm remote fob, guess what? It locked all doors including the habitation door and unlocks all doors, including the hab door.
So, it would seem that there is an interplay between the Peugeot key fob and the Gemini remote fob.
This possibly explains why the Peugeot fob had been deactivated (by removing the battery by the previous owner). The dealer seemed bemused why the Peugeot fob was missing its battery and put one back. So I think I'll just use the Gemini alarm/locking fob and not lock the van with the Peugeot fob at all.

As an update, I got mine repaired under warranty, and without cost yesterday. It turned out to be something to do with the ignition key, and not a fault of anything on the vehicle.

As I understand things, on some, the unlock button is pressed once to unlock all doors. On others it has to be pressed twice. The first press unlocks driver and passenger door, the second the hab. door. It seems the "one press" key which mine was can give problems, so mine is now the "two press" type.
