Might seem odd, but has anybody removed theirs?

The previous owner had it fitted, but on my previous van I used it once in 8 years.

I'm short of space on my roof, and was considering removing it and replacing with solar, much more useful IMHO.

Question is has anybody done it, and how big is the hole

Waeco EasyCool BTW

From what I've read here you are not the first to remove their A/C!

I think they are all made to fit in a standard size rooflight opening so you should be able to replace it with a rooflight. Filling the hole so you can fit solar over the top would be a bodyshop job I think.

You may find you already have space if you use an odd shaped panel, I've recently fitted a 100W panel which was 410mm wide - and 1600mm long. There's a thread in the solar panel section on here.

I'm a newbe
Had a quick look at the Waeco site which says 425 mm hole (square I presume as it only shows one dimantion), if that helps.

do have aN A/C unit from Dometic and we use it often when in hot climates, just turn it on about 2hours before going to bed - Magic.
