Grimy old hole needs a good clean, any ideas?

This table leg hole thingy is aluminium and is quite grimy/dull, any good tips on an easy polish up? The photo doesnt do justice to how grimy it is!

First remove it and replace the screws with stainless or chrome heads and give it a polish on your knee with Solvol Autosol

Thanks Stealaway, attached photo(, it doesnt really show the significant difference it has made), I’ve sheen painted the table leg black as well, looks great. Cheers👍
