Grey water tank not emptying (1 Viewer)

We are very careful not to let food stuffs go down the plug holes but during this first trip in ages, the release tap just trickled and now nothing is coming out of the tank. It is CAK tank 70ltrs and is now showing half full. Previously the tank would full flow empty at a quarter full, now nothing.
What methods can I use to clear the tank ? sensible ones please

I would flush the system with mains water attached to the outlet hose ,then see what happens after draining .

Or stick a jet wash up the outlet hose. It will clear it for sure

Piece of curtain wire - or even a plumbers wire - pushed GENTLY up the opened outlet. Be prepared with a suitable receptacle...............

Odds on a small weee beastie made it's home up there and died!

What diameter is the outlet? The narrower ones are quite easily clogged no matter how careful you are with waste going down the drain.

Looks like 1in diameter (don’t do foreign) grey pipe

It's normally a wasp's nest or suchlike. Poke it out with a bit of wire.

When I replaced the rusted hanging straps on my Autocruise Alto it was an ideal time for a good swill around so Consider checking hanging straps if they need replacing disconnect electrics and pipes and remove etc

If you have a wire coat hanger straighten it out and use it to clear the pipe.

It has been known for some Motorhome s to come from the factory with the disc cutout to be left inside the tank when they cut the hole for the outlet, which then moves about randomly blocking the outlet.

Some twenty years ago I had a very unpleasant experience with a two year old van I had purchased. I removed the grey (red) tank bung and what it contained was somewhat unpleasant. So three vans later I never carry water in the grey tanks ( I have two) Being an ex Scout where we were told to Bucket and Chuck it thats exactly what I do. Maintenance wise I reverse fill the tanks and use Biologigal washing powder to clean the, annually.

ive had this problem because the ground was very unlevel, so the water didnt drain out. Tried in a different waste station and it worked
