Hi everybody, nice of you to have me here, and I promise not to jump on the furniture.:roflmto:

I'm a retiree, coming up soon (in June) to my 'proper' retirement age.
With the lump sum part of my pension, I'll be looking to buy a (cheap) MH, up to about £13k. As it's only me, a 2 or 3 berth will be ideal. A few years back , I had a van based on a Talbot Express, but it was a horrendous drive; no power steering and the pedals were so high that my ankles ached after driving just a few miles. I still enjoy camping in my tent, but getting on a bit and looking for a bit more comfort. I'm hoping to pick up a few tips and tricks here, to help me make a decision when it comes time to buy the MH.

Welcome to fun - you are not too far away from us xxxx

Just because you dont have a motorhome yet doesnt mean you cant join in the fun.

There's loads of meets this year that are not too far a distance for you so have a look in the calendar and the rallies and meets threads.

Here's some for starters

April (just before easter) - St Osyths Beach - near clacton
statics available

April - Peterborough motorhome show - come for the day

May - Gails 50th in Essex - mersea island just outside colchester
static for the weekend just £110 but you need to book by this friday

June - Kent Motorhome Show hopefully by then you will have a motorhome xxx

We always get far more than our subs back on discounts etc hope you do too.

Whatever you do HAVE FUN

I remember the Talbot express pedals. I have had two MHs based on this in my time. The only solution is to put in a false floor, which has the added advantage of getting rid of the step from the coachbuilt bit into the cab, and also provides useful storage for tools etc.

Thank you one and all for the warm welcome.

Re, the above (partial) quote, would that St. Osyth meeting be at Hutley's? I know that caravan park very well, my brother has a static caravan there.
The MH show in Kent in June sounds good, but I was thinking of delaying my MH purchase until after the Summer, when prices start to drop a bit. Also I won't have the funds till late June.
