We seem to have just joined the throng, August Bank Holiday has never been a sensible weekend for us to visit an outdoors shop/dealership etc. Last week we decided to upgrade two spotlights (MR11?) from halogen to LED in our beloved T@b 320 Chic "T@b o' the Night"...

So we popped down to a local Static/Tourer/Motorhome dealership (First mistake), the bulbs they had were not what we wanted so we had a wander around (Second mistake). It seems that next Saturday we're heading back to pickup "Wandering Star" our new (to us) 2009 Auto Trail Mohican

Andy and Anna, great friends of ours, recommended this Forum so here we are...

:welco: How many times have we all done that:giggler:

We once went to look for a stand alone satellite dish and bought a 8.5 metre Frankia A class

Another time went for a tube of sealant and placed an order for a new Autotrail

Hello and welcome from West Midlands.

Sounds like you're as mad as the rest of us.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone, after a few things happening that made us suspicious of the dealer/van, we cancelled our order on the Mohican (we got the deposit back too, phew!).

We had a rethink, read as much as we could on here (that's a LOT) and harassed @Drexxer with phone calls while they were away in France. After a good look around, we decided that a different layout would probably be more practical for us (either rear twins or rear island with mid kitchen/shower/loo and forward lounge); In addition we decided that we wanted a Burstner (dunno why, we just liked the finish), preferably in leather, maybe a "55". We'd already decided that we were looking for a Fiat power unit with at least 150 brake and preferably Auto.

There were a few around that we could find, that fitted the bill, or almost, Two in Scotland, One in Donny, One down in Devon, One (confirmed) or more at the Bath Showground, and One in Ireland (put on the back burner), although there was ONE that really stood out online. A plan was hatched which would see us viewing ALL of the candidates in One Weekend!

On Friday, after work, we booked a room at the local (to the dealer's) TravelLodge and set off for my Favourite place in this Island of our's, Scotland. (Top tip; if you're ever booking a TravelLodge with a small'ish dog, don't pay the 20 Groats they want for the dog, sneak it in under your coat... BUT, make sure the crafty K9 ain't managed to move the coat so that it can see where it's going..  )

After Breaking Fast and topping off the fuel at the local Morrisons ready for the Marathon day ahead, we were knocking on the door to look at the first two vans...

6 hours later... Yep, that'd be after spending 6 hours scouring one van, including on the net, for Practicality/Function/Fault, and after a bit of a chat  we decided that we could live with/fix ourselves the minor faults... As a bonus I got Sunday off..!

On Thursday we're back OOop North to collect her, and are looking forward to loading her up ready to meet a bunch of peeps at the meet this weekend... :) (y)
