Greetings all. Me & the missus are hoping to buy our first campervan in the near future and came across this excellent site. You all seem to be very nice people so we hope you won’t mind us taking advantage of your experience. We are real novices whose only experience of camping is a few weekends with our family who all have tents. ( Very large and comfortable tents - but tents none the less.) They are quite happy under canvass but SWaMBO and I would prefer a little more comfort (& none of the putting up / taking down palaver!) We are already learning quite a lot from reading your posts and we will most likely be asking a good few questions. We live in North Lincolnshire and most of our excursions will be to the Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire coast with some trips into Derbyshire, Yorkshire dales etc. First question – Is it a good idea to join the caravan club?

Re Caravan Club, there's also the Caravan and Camping Club. I'd look at birth websites and see what benefits you'd get, how many sites you're likely to use in your first year. Both run temporary holiday sites ( generally a location with few facilities) which can be incredibly good value and in some great locations. Take a bit if time comparing the benefits to make your choice.

Hi-smiley.png The Caravan and Motorhome club , and also Caravan and Camping club both have their pluses , they both have small affiliated sites called CL s and CS respectively that are small lower spec locations , privately owned that can be very good value and closer to locations you might want to visit . Its very much a read of what each offer and see which one suits you . Dont be afraid to ask any questions as there are lots on here that are more than happy to give the benefit of their experience , so others dont make same mistakes, as it can get expensive very quickly , particularly choosing the right layout and vehicle .

Hi Welcome
would certainly recommend the caravan club, not for its sites, (to large and regimented) but for access to the certified locations (CL's) which there are plenty, certainly in your next of the woods

Hello Welcome to Motorhome fun, you have the choice of Caravan Club or Camping and Caravan club, for me CCC has the advantage of not having to book everything in advance and also the CCC temporary holiday sites are very good. Worth checking on both. To get the best out of Motorhome fun it's well worth becoming a full member £15 a year then you can use all the site facilities and ask as many questions ax you want, otherwise you will only get 5 free posts.

Welcome!
We’ve joined CCC and C&MC in our first year.
C&MC seem to have more CL sites, which we like.People moan about their bigger sites being staffed by over zealous wardens but we’ve not had a problem.
Main thing is,take a long time looking and learning, otherwise you might make an expensive mistake.
Enjoy!

Hello!
If you are looking for a site by the sea in Lincolnshire you must visit our leader, Jim, at Jasmin Camping, Sutton on Sea. Would be especially good for a first outing for novices.

:hiya2:Hi - We are complete novices as well, although have had a trailer tent for 30 yrs. Just test driven and signed on the dotted line today!! Definitely subscribe to this site, so friendly and such a wealth of experience. Jim has a great book full of advice on choosing and buying as well which you will be able to download...

Welcome to Fun!
We belong to both clubs we don't tend to use the CAMC club sites much but they some sites do a 'midweek discount' which is useful if you're not tied to week-ends.
Between the two clubs we have a massive amount of CL's & CS's-5 van sites-not many have facilities but they are usually reasonable priced and useful. You will find in winter you will want a hard standing and EHU-electric hook up!
