Hi, just seen a quick bit on bbc 2 about this region. It looked amazing, perfect for cycling.

    Has anyone been?

Would it make a good place for a 10 day break in May or June?

It will be our first trip to France in the motorhome.

We were thinking of taking the Chunnel. But could do ferries.

It's a lovely place perfect for walking and cycling.Marais Poitevin is amazing, when we went adults went in a punt and the kids had canoes.

We had a week or so there last June and enjoyed it very much. Quite pleasant cycling alongside the various waterways.

We stayed here a couple of years ago http://www.camping-laveniseverte.com/ lovely area very flat ideal for cycling. There is also an aire close to the town (coulon) if you don't want a site.

If you go perhaps you could pick up my water filler cap that I left by the service point after filling up when I left. :ROFLMAO:

Edit: Site is in ACSI book 16 euros per night up to 10/07

Went last year ...very laybacked area. Good area for freshwater Bass fishing.Cycle friendly alongside canal systems, some great local restaurants.. try the regional eel/frogleg dishes. Potentially very touristy at weekends especially the French..Not sure about spending 10 days there ? We next moved onto Ile de Re ...Out of season another great location...

It's a great area and ideal for a holiday. Cycling is good as well. Be careful with the sat nav that it doesn't take you along little roads by the canals!!! Had some interesting manoeuvres with the van when I was there.

Thanks for all this great info. That area sounds good, with a run to the coast a given.:thumb:

Lived in Mortagne for nine years and still use the aire when visiting friends in the area. Not ever so handy for Venise Vert though!
