Good morning from Ammoudia Beach. We have now been joined by Martin & Sue who crossed over last night and one other UK motorhome has parked up near us from Manchester. A couple of boats have anchored in the bay and it looks like it's going to be anouther fine day. We will stay here for one/rwo more nights then move on
We're parked a couple of hundred metres along under the trees. We'll pop and say hello if you're still around later! What a lovely spot it is around here!!

Feral dogs ! We have encounted a few of these here and they seem to have a behaviour code. They will not go close to humans but will wait very quietly nearby in the hope of a handout. They also seem to be of the same breed and I guess a lot of interbreeding. No threat what-so-ever IMO. There numbers will be controlled for certain, especially in popular tourist places.

That is also my experience of them in 40 years in Greece.

Phil, we had our own security team at a well known beachside stop in Portugal …

They slept all day, no begging for food, but as soon as they heard the shepherd coming, they all jumped up and got to work!

Enjoyed a few beers and ouzo last night in the local bar with Martin & Sue and we will head off this morning to our next stop. We had a nice drop of rain during the night so solar panels and windows nice and clean. Anouther stunning morning.
The Mythos beer is very nice too.
From the bar.

We are now looking out into the gulf of Patras from Tourlida.
When we set off I thought I would be clever and use the toll road to get down here. Too clever by half and now 20 Euros lighter in my wallet. With my experience I should know better and to make it worse the Greek non toll roads seem to be in reasonable condition. Fuel prices as low as 1.81 are quiet common so quite a variance here and a saving can be made if the right service station visited.
This is a neat little place and looking a tad sorry for itself due to some building works going on in one of the two fish restaurants here. Some of the beach parking bays are full of earth but loads and loads of parking available, particularly for motorhomes by the new looking swimming platform.
There are 3 of us here now with room for anouther 30 plus. The sunsets will be fabulous.

It's Martins birthday today and we have booked a table in one of the two seafood restaurants to celebrate later. It has some great views and I've attached a couple of pictures.
We also have tourist buses turning up with the guide showing the group the dilapidated mooring platforms and giving a discussion on what I thought were holiday holmes but after talking to a resident when exploring the area I'm informed many are permanent Holmes. There is also a salt museum and a small church here, both closed and the little beach is now filling up with locals as the heat increases.

We sadly said fairwell to Martin & Sue this morning as we cross into the Peloponnese and they head off in the direction of Turkey. We always enjoy being in there company and as always look forward to when we meet again.
The Ferry crossing was a doddle straight on and away in minutes. Eleven euros and a very smooth and quick crossing.
We have arrived at our first stop and it's a FLT's paradise. Next to and part of a beach restaurants it has everything on offer to the campers for free, with the exception of electricity. Black and grey waste disposal clean water, all free and a cool beach with chairs and sunshades. It must be good because it's filling up very fast and I suspect one or two may stay here for quiet a while. A top, top place.

The photos are making me really jealous. We lived on Crete for 17 years. No idea what possessed me to return to the UK, but hey ho.

What ferry was that and why did you not just use the new bridge at Rio/Antirio?

Because the ferry is a little bit cheaper and a much nicer way to cross than a boring bridge. :giggle:

Yeah. I've done both in the past. Ferry is more fun, but you get better views from high up on the bridge. No idea what the prices are, I'll take your word for that.

I do hope so ! Apparently, or so I'm lead to believe, they are attracted to the smell of cheap crocks! Makes sense now !
