Great little tool coming to Lidl

The other turn of the coin is when peeps with motorhomes or camper and go to France or Spain, they always tend to go to these cheap places called Aldi or Lidl.

If I ever set foot in those places I’ll take M&S bags with me, have an image to uphold you see….. as wife says “Snob”.

Yep.

Oh goody someone else that tars anyone from the wrong side of the Pennies with a very large brush! :ROFLMAO:
Referring to Yorkshire as the wrong side of the Pennines is simply wrong.
Every map of the country shows that Yorkshire is on the right side of the Pennines.

That, of course, does not indicate that Yorkshire is on the correct side of the Pennines.

Going back, I recall the woman walking around Lidl with a huge chariot full of stuff.

She went through the till and, as women do went hunting for her credit card.
On presenting it, the look on her face when she was told, "Sorry, we don't accept credit cards" was priceless.

The 'walk of shame' back to her Merc. must have been interminable.

I miss those days.

Must be an M&S and Waitrose customer ?
Send one of the domestic staff obviously,, wouldn't want to be seen there.
Had a Waitrose in our town that is full of snobs lol Helensburgh, and it lasted 2 years before it closed. Worst food I've ever purchased. Remember ordering the Xmas meat from their and was embarrassed to say after serving it on Christmas day that it was from Waitrose 🤣🤣

There you go, corrected it for you, 😉👍👍

It is on the correct side as we get the sunshine after his holiness upstairs empties the cassette over Lancashire 🤷‍♂️😉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well I never shop in Waitrose or M&S as I cannot afford it, I go to the butchers and get bones for the dog I do not have. I did ask Jim if I could set up a go fund me page on here so that my children could eat proper meat at Christmas. Seriously though food prices have gone mad and there are some genuine people out there struggling.
Back to subject of this topic, I try not to buy tools as they just go in the corner with the others I thought I might need.

Aldi wagyu sirloin steaks are very nice medium rare or rare as is my preference . Prefer Lidl or Waitrose for everything else :giggle:
They are one of the things that seem to be readily available, so I wouldn't describe them as rare ... :ROFLMAO: I ask for my steak to be cooked 'comme le cuir, assez cuit pour faire mes chaussons' - better than having to send it back 4 times, and usually gets a smile from the table staff .. On the last BF sailing to Santander at lunchtime, I recognised the Table staff member from Dinner the previous evening, so II suggested that he ask the chef to begin cooking my steak around 4pm for the 730pm sitting ... :ROFLMAO: 'Parfait - Nickel et Michel ...'

I remarked yesterday how the weekly shop at Aldi had increased over the last 2 years from £50-£60 to £80-£90, partly because chocolate has been replaced by fruit & veg, partly because I grab middle aisle stuff such as paint brushes and boxes of masking tape for the renovations that are taking for ever ...

But, at least we can just sigh and accept the price hikes - there's no shortage of folk for whom there is little chance of running out of week before running out of money, and they are by no means the oft-cited 'Great Unwashed Masses'; sadly, things are likely to get a lot worse before they get better ...

People are struggling in this country of ours and it’s down to those at the top of the money pile and as they say shitee rolls downhill and the average Jo is at the bottom and struggling.

Me yes I hate Lidl and Aldi with a vengeance only because of the poor quality of food they sell at a cheaper price than other stores and that’s what they brought to the UK and yes they are cheap for a reason but……

Those at the bottom of this shitee pile that rolls downhill have to eat and feed families and still struggling like hell.

And yet again you see very expensive cars in these car parks and then put food from Aldi and Lidl in M&S bags just in the hope neighbours see them and that’s a person that has an image to protect.

Me, honestly yes I hate these two stores and we shop in Morrisons only because it’s local and they are not the best, the meat is shocking but again we all have to eat.

Life’s a bitch and getting harder and harder and only going to get worse I’m afraid.

Keep safe all I’m now off to M&S to get a steak for my supper……… I wish.

I cook the Aldi steaks myself so I don’t really understand your post and what all the French has got to do with it?

Jeez, you'd make Victor Meldrew sound like a fun guy. Some of the food from Lidl is really good at a decent price.

There is a reason Lidl/Aldi is cheaper and it's nothing to do with the quality of their produce...
It seems your prejudice informs your opinion.

Aldi actively supports local and national farmers across the UK through multi-billion-pound investments, long-term supply deals, and dedicated regional sourcing programs. [1, 2, 3]

Key Ways Aldi Supports Farmers
    • Multi-Billion Investment: Aldi committed over £5 billion in long-term supply agreements spanning at least two years to give UK farmers financial stability and confidence to invest. [1, 2]
    • Scottish Sourcing Leadership: According to the National Farmers Union Scotland (NFUS) ShelfWatch report, Aldi stocks an average of 65% own-label fresh produce from Scottish farms, making it a leading supermarket for local Scottish sourcing. [1]
    • Regional and National Commitments:
      • Sources 100% British fresh milk through the Aldi Dairy Farm Partnership, paying sustainable prices in conjunction with Arla Foods.
      • Features over 75 everyday items sourced directly from Welsh farms and makers for shoppers in Wales via programs supporting local Welsh produce.
      • Pledged £1.1 billion toward UK egg production over a five-year span. [1, 2, 3]
    • Community and Resilience Programs: Partners with The Royal Countryside Fund (founded by HM King Charles III) to provide business and environmental workshops for rural farming families. [1]
I wonder if your wonderful MandS or Morrisons does the same🤣🤣

Poor quality of the food. So where do you think MandS and Morrisons get their products from? Exactly the same supplier. I would suggest you take a walk along Fraserbough doc side talk to a few fisherman and they will explain.
Enough said victor, have a nice evening.

I know where they purchase the goods from and as an example in llantrisant Wales is a rice factory who makes rice for all the supermarkets and the only difference is the label on the packaging.

The inside is the same.

How I know, delivered class 1 trailers out of there loads of times in curtainsiders on pallets same food, packaging marked for Tesco, M&S, Lidl, Aldi owe and Morrisons.

Night Mr Argumetive.

I think you have just proven my point 🤣🤣
No arguments just can't understand what your trying to say.
If it's the same rice but Lidl is poorer quality lol
And I thought rice was Chinese not Welsh 🙈

A long time ago I worked for Cussons of Imperial Leather soap fame. They made soap for all kinds of outlets such as Woolworths, BHS, Boots etc. Same soap, different packaging, different retail price.

Dometic make things that are in Morelo’s, and Autotrails. Doesn’t make Morelo and Autotrail the same. I know which I’d prefer.

It’s not just our house that’s taking an age to renovate then 😱

SWMBO comes back now and then with masking tape and anything she thinks I’ll need to help the work along 🤣

I am always willing to give Lidl and Aldi a try and often the quality is good but sometimes it isn’t. I just don’t buy it again but it’s always worth a try . I wouldn’t dismiss it without trying it though, I do like a bargain.

I had got a bit lazy about grocery shopping before our recent trip and was picking quite a bit in M&S for quickness. I picked up a yellow sticker pack of 4 loin chops reduced to £5.45 nearly bought them but they looked a bit fatty. I was parked in Tescos so popped in there £2.99!! And that was the normal price. That’s mad, the Tescos ones were fine.

I will be back to my careful ways. It’s not that we can’t afford it but I’ve better things to spend my money on.

It just what we do, if you like something buy it again if not don't. We eat fruit a lot especially things like melon and kiwi fruit. Last week a melon in or local Morrisons was £1.98 in Aldi was £.99 for exactly the same size and quality piece of fruit.

I remember shopping in Aldi 30+ years ago. The food was stacked up on pallets. The staff had to remember the price of everything as it was before they had electronic scanners. A job on their checkout was the highest paid of any supermarket shop-floor role at the time. They obviously didnt have the range of foods that they have now.

This is why they were so cheap in their early days.

I remember working in fine fare in 1979 on the greengrocers the girls on the tills had to remember the prices and every couple of weeks they got examined by the store manager to make sure they were up to scratch. What a change from bip bip in todays supermarkets 😁

I get so cross when I hear about hard up major supermarkets i.e. Saisbury / Tesco / Waitrose / and the rest.... they were for years ripping us of with their prices and laughing when there profits were huge....... all of a sudden people were no longer embarrassed about going into Lidl / Aldi and they started to take off..... now you look at the 'old' major supermarkets and now they are struggling they proudly boast that they can match Lidi / Aldi price.......... Why the flip didn't they do that years ago..... because they were making mega bucks from us.
