Replacing all the graphics on my 4 year old Carado as one side is quite badly stained and prefer grey/black to current gold/brown. Quote is £420 including fitting from a reputable local specialist. Is this reasonable? Also is there a special product for protecting vinyl graphics or just normal auroglym etc?
Thanks

I would ask the Graphics people what you can use to protect.Be careful with Autoglym polish.I found out that it takes the colour out of the graphics. The price sounds pretty reasonable to me.I haven't taken any off but looking on websites it can be a real pain to remove,And fitting New ones isn't a job I would do.👍🏻

Pretty sure i saw a post, maybe on Facebook, of someone who had a large Burstner fitted with new graphics and they quoted £1,000 ish when asked. So maybe your quote is about right. Only way to check is to obtain 3 quotes and compare. Cant help with the finish, mine as a bit worn and the wife keeps on that we should change them but £1000 buy a lot of beer and diesel (y) (y) :whistle2:

Used a hair dryer was hot enough on medium heat, problem was getting a happy medium between melting glue and making graphics to soft cracking made everything worse

Our Hymer graphics were looking worn and faded because the graphics are printed onto white vinyl and had worn off partly from UV degradation and over polishing by previous owners.

The price for replacements from Hymer were way over the top, so I bought two shades of grey conformable vinyl and made my own.

For instance, this Hymermobil graphic was quoted at £100.00 from Brownhills and there were two that needed replacing. 🙄
I traced the originals and then cut the new ones out using scissors, stanley knife and a metal ruler and this is the result:

The two rolls of vinyl cost £60.00 and I still have loads left. 😁

Not all graphics use the same material and you would do well to ask about longevity of the graphics being replaced. I had some of mine done last year by a friend of my Son-in-Law and got an exceptional deal, £100.00 for 8 graphics and he said he was giving me the best material he had and I could expect 10 years out of them. His work was exceptionally good and in return I offered to put his name on here for potential new customers but he declined as his business is not centered around M'homes.

Thanks for the advice. Art was never my strong point at school so think I will leave it to the experts. Have called the motorhome ‘Boris’ after I bought it the day before lockdown but will refrain from printing that name on it or new graphics might not last😬 Good job on the Hymermobil.

All our graphics are fine apart for the silver ones on one side of the motorhome which were badly damaged before we bought it. If anyone knows of a graphics person in the York/Leeds, I would be most grateful.

I print/cut and apply graphics, if that’s a genuine quote then take his hand off.

To remove all existing graphics, clean and prepare cut and apply new for that money is a great price

Final bill was £530. Very pleased with result, will post pictures when ‘Boris’ ,comes out of hibernation. As the graphics were only four years old and put on by manufacturer they took an extra half day to come off, bit like stripping wallpaper in tiny strips that we have all experienced. 2 days total work, so was good value I think. Expect 5-7 years use.

IF the graphics are of good quality they should last at least 10 years or longer.
I have trucks signwriten in 1998 that are still crisp with only marginal fading. Red is the worst colour for sun damage so avoid using it.
As the price is reasonably high I assume they are using a qualify vinyl like 3M or Fasson. Any colour prints should be laminated to protect them from sun and uv damage.

It's laminated after printing or the colours will soon fade in sunlight. Solid vinyl colours should be fade free for 5-7 years depending on vinyl quality used. Avery. Metamark, Grafityp etc all good

Getting there!
I must go see my local sign company to ask about changing the green sections on our decals, I was thinking they could just use cutting tape around the current green bit and lay a more modern colour (satin copper/bronze) over the top, pull the tape and bobs your uncle...
