Very soon we're planning to whizz through France, tour round the highlights of the above Spanish places, stopping no more than 3 nights anywhere, then head back up to the Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne area to loaf around for a few days before heading back to Calais.

We've got the French bit completely sorted - basically all aires that we've been to before, with the exception of Wissant, which we may try for the first time on our final night in France.

I'm very interested in any recommendations you can offer for campsites that you've visited within easy striking distance of the 5 Spanish places: Granada, Ronda, Seville, Cordoba, and Baeza. The sites don't need to be of expensive superior quality with loads of extras and nice neat privet hedges as we don't plan to hang around on them. We just need somewhere that's easy to get to, park up, sleep, then walk or catch nearby public transport to the main visitor attractions for the day.

I realise there's aires in Spain but we're giving them a miss this time - my Spanish is very poor and I prefer being able to communicate in the native language on aires. It certainly came in handy when I accidentally broke someone's bike rack in Honfleur(!)

Thanks in advance.

In Seville you could stay at Camping Villsom in Dos Hermanas. Short walk to bus stop to get into town - amazing city - one of our favourite places.

Three weeks in total. allowing 5 straight days of driving to get from home to Granada, then 3 days driving back from Biarritz. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it's how we do it. Worked OK with Italy last year.

Cordoba
At the moment we are at a campsite about 30km from Cordoba at Villafranca de Cordoba. 4 buses a day to Cordoba, the last bus returns from Cordoba at 20.00 hrs. ACSI no 2444 €18 a night with ACSI card.

Previous to this site we stayed at a campsite in the centre of Cordoba. 30 mins walk into town, or bus every 20 mins. Did not like the site, small plots and expensive at €32.5 a night!

Thanks for the tips folks - the trip is now pretty much organised, using some of the sites you've mentioned and a couple of others. Will report back on return.

We are planning on stopping in a week or so at www.campingelsur.com which is just outside Ronda and is supposed to be an easy walk from there to the town. Have not been there but it gets a good write up in the CC guide.

Stayed about four years ago, first time we'd had really hot showers after leaving Regio at Salamanca a fortnight before. I remember large terraced pitches, some with good views. We made the mistake of turning off the bypass and ended up driving through the town in at 9pm..........:Eeek:.

As previously suggested, try here for Seville a short bus ride to the centre of the city. good location with on site bars, restaurants etc and basic shower facilities, laundry, black/grey water disposal and EHU.
