Likely to be travelling to Granada - Spain in early July for a tournament my son is in. Lots of variables and possibilities but one big question after spending 10 days last August in an apartment in Alicante(had no idea that there was that much heat so far from the equator)!!

Would I be mad to drive the camper(Autocruise Forte) down to Granada in early July where the temperature is typically in the mid to high 30s. Main concern is being able to sleep at night! The majority of me wants to bring the van on the adventure - Ireland to UK, Newhaven to Dieppe(20% discount if I can Mission Impossible a mask to impersonate Lenny) and drive down the bones of 1800km down and then spend a few weeks meandering back while working. Anyone done something similar?

Take the van, it's not a holiday unless it's in the 30°'s. Granarda is fairly high up 2400 ft so won't be very hot.

If you're able to take the time off and don't mind the travelling why not although with 2 ferries both ways plus tolls and diesel I suspect flying would be the cheaper option.

When I had my Beni apartment and in school holidays I used to do a mix.
Grandkids broke up for the summer 6 week holidays, into the motorhome and a week traveling down. Van in storage and stayed in apartment for a month then a weeks slow drive home. 👍😁
Yes... It was hot 🔥

We were travelling back through Spain in mid July a few years ago. External temperature was up to 44 degrees. I won't ever again use van in Spain during July/August. FLY.

Traveled back via the uk last summer on the day it hit 41. Was not nice but hoping that the camper at night in hot weather would be manageable given it has lots of openings. While flying would be easier, driving allows for the kids joining us in France on the way back and they’re at an age where there’s not too many family holidays left! I won’t know until roughly 3 weeks before the event if he is selected but either option is relatively cost neutral versus the other.

From Ireland….6 weeks yes…preferably 8 anything less no ….forget the temperature.
