GPS Update (1 Viewer)

I have a Garmin GPS Uk Maps and added Europe on a plug and play SD card later.
Does it go from the data card onto the GPS and then you can run without the SD card? as I never took the card out.
If so am I right in assuming that any subsequent updates would do the unit.

I suppose it depends on what sort you have. my little emergency i3 used to update to the memory card. It could also be set to use the dta from either the memory card or the unit.
Have you tried asking this question on the pocket web garmin site? do you know that one?
