Not just me then that's where my Banners ended up as well.
Traction for me now, I'll never buy a so called leisure battery ever again.

I just had to swap out 4 Banner AGM batteries that were just 18 months old. :xsad:

Couldn't fit tractions in so replaced with Gel's, which are being transfered to the new van, don't want crapy AGM's again.

That's exactly how long mine lasted.:xsad:

I'll bet you won't have much luck with a warranty claim, they will run a starter battery test on them and say they are OK.

I was careful in how I treated them. I even bought a special AGM module for my charger that is supposed to mollycoddle them. :xdoh:

You both beat me 16 months and mine were toast and yes I looked after them properly.
Bloody rubbish, alright if you spend plenty of time on ehu but if you spend time off ehu and in proper cold (we ski) not up to the job.:xangry:

I have 26 x 6v 100ah batteries each weighing 22kg..... all dead as a DO-DO.

Can't find any scrappers who'll take them as they are emergency lighting backup batteries and have a different makeup to regular lead-acids.
Evidently they need a special Has-Chem transport permit.....I brought 'em home and took 'em to the local scrapyard on my trailer.
I had plans for that £300

My Banners are on the way to the scrap yard but if you have them in your van best check the levels. You will need a 1p piece and a pair of pliers to open the tops. Depending on how and where your Banners are fitted will have a bearing on how long they will last. Checked and topped up regularly (about once a month) they should last, try not to leave them on charge via your electrobloc as this can boil them. If they are buried away in your van and hard to check, then best start to look for replacements.

Nope, Varta AGM and if you look on the German forums they are failing as well. Having my Gel's swapped over to the new van.
For many years Hymer and Niesmann+Bischoff (part of Hymer) fitted EXIDE Gel batteries, like everything they have now cut the quality and fitting cheaper options.

Retail the Banner AGM's are considerably dearer than the Gel's but you never know what manufacturers pay.

I had regular Lead Acid Banners that worked well for years. My issue is with the AGM. Whilst I took great care to look after them when charging, someone suggested the bloody great alternator on my RV might have taken these sensitive things over voltage and cooked them.

Gels will always fail prematurely if not charged correctly. A standard split charge setup will certainly kill them.
I have a couple of Gel batteries on my patch. They are fine and will last a 5 yr contract with no probs so long as they are on the correct charger...

A friend of mine regularly takes batterys to the scrappy, he always fills them to the brim with tap water to bump up the weight
