Got a good idea? (1 Viewer)

I got to thinking about different ways of charging Batteries this morning & I suddenly had one of those light bulb pinging moments you get occasionally.
Now I am no electrical engineer & wasn't much good at physics but I wonder if it is possible via a dynamo & connection kit to be able to use the power from pedaling a bike to top up leisure batteries?
I remember seeing a set up at a Gala in York last year where a Cycle was rigged up to a food processor and provided enough power to run it for making fruit smoothies.
I would have thought that all you need is a stand to lift the back wheel, a dynamo maybe a transformer & wiring with a connection to the battery.
Anybody out there with more technical knowledge got any ideas?
I can just see me now on the bike by the Van while the BBQ is heating up grunting away for half an hour keeping fit & using the Green energy I'm producing for a worthy cause. :thumb:
