Adria Coral
Hi. I am looking at getting a set for my Adria Compact Coral 2009. The only issue is I need to upgrade to 16 inch wheels. Any reviews on the good and bad of these tyres. We do got to a few festivals and can be wet or muddy. What are they like on the wet roads? Also advise on where to go for 16 inch wheels and tyres. Live in Worcester. Thanks

You could try one of the big car and van dismantle people like silver lake if you want 2nd hand wheels.

What are they like on the wet roads?

Off road, mud sand and rock they are OK. I've used them for years. Quite a few motorhomers are fitting them. They look good and are relatively cheap. For me though, when they have done a few road miles, they let go of a wet road far too easily. I would not fit them on a motorhome.

Just as a thought. If I was fitting all terrain, or mud and snow tyres. Would I be ok to fit them just to the drive wheels? Can't see the point in fitting them to all wheels.

I don’t think you can mix tyres if in France etc

As far as I’m aware the vehicle needs to be legal in the country it is registered. For example motorcycles in France don’t have their equivalent of an MOT. So when used here they are still allowed on the road because they’re legal in their country of registration.

Untill you go down a steep hill in snow and need traction on all four wheels.

I've been thinking this through - looking at 245 75 r16 for my transit.

Noise is my biggest concern will they be too noisy? no point getting somewhere with a headache!!!

I fitted them to our Campscout a few months ago. Not done a great deal of miles on them yet but early thoughts are… Road noise is different not louder.
Ride is definitely better, no where near as harsh as previous tyres. Grip on wet grass (which is the main reason I fitted them) is fantastic. Proved by us parking up on a sloping grass site exactly where we wanted. Brother in law, on the other hand, with the same van but camper tyres, slithered around and parked up best he could.
Only down side so far, is the strong smell of rubber although its improving with time.

Saw a Bailey with a full set on at Chester CAMC site last week , they certainly look impressive 💡

We he’s certainly impressed that’s for sure.
I enjoy the John & Mandy vlogs but for the life of me I can't remember an occasion when he hasn't raved about each purchase he's made. Of course it might be all good. Alternatively there could be a degree of self justifying of his decisions. It is a common behaviour, I should know, I do it myself. Just saying the review might not be entirely balanced.

Or some silver coins were pressed in to his hands to give a good review

We have KO2s on Wolfrace alloys our 3500kg 4x4 sprinter PVC . We also have the original Continental Wintercontact tyres / steel wheels. We have run the van on both.
There is a small decrease in mpg perhaps 2-3mpg, though this is difficult to be certain of, as the trips/road conditions/van loads were different - probably not enough difference to be worried about. There is a bit more low frequency road noise with the KO2s, but again the difference is not significant enough to stop us using them.
They certainly have a big effect on the look of the van:xsmile:

If changing From 15inch to 16inch wheels, I believe your speed reading will be inaccurate.

They are a lot quieter than the grip pattern might suggest. They are a legendary long-lived tyre, which I think is half the problem. While the wet weather performance when new is OK, they do harden up (which is why they last a long time) and it's then that you hear the horror stories of them letting go. Loads of stories on the 4wd forums.

I should say though that in the last few years there have been complaints of them not lasting as long, and there are now quite a few saying they are OK in the wet. Have they changed the compound a bit maybe? I have just put some new ones on my Lanny, so I'll let you know in a year or two :D

The original tyres on our van are 225/75 R16. The KO2s are 245/65 R17. They have an increased circumference of less than 2 cm compared to the originals, which is less than a 1% increase. This means that in our case, they have a negligible effect on the speed readings. They do have the effect of chucking more mud up the side of the van though due to being a bit wider:xsad:

I have general grabbers on my pick up. Whilst not a extreme as the the BFG they have been a good tyre. Not too noisy good grip in the wet and dry. Decent in the snow and they’re now four years old and not even half worn. Mine are AT3s.
I do not know if they do them in suitable sizes, weights for the motorhome though.

Yes that's always the risk along with the self justification piece although no signs of him changing them back

Or if he's critical then the freebies dry up......

seems to be a lot of unsubstantiated conjecture creeping in ? :)

This may not be that helpful as its based on tyres I have had on Defenders and not my van.
My Defender was doing circa 35k miles a year.
Having used both I much prefer Cooper all terrain tyres to Goodrich, I find them quieter, better on road for longer and the same off road.
I would have both over General Grabber that I have found worse both on and off road.
In fact I have just put Cooper all terrains on my Ford Ranger.
But it may be a bit different on a van.

Im not sure he's entirely balanced either
