Our day of dread has arrived.

Our beloved Indy has been put to sleep this morning. The vet discovered in inoperable tumour on his spleen that could of ruptured at any moment causing untold pain and likely death. At 13.5 years we decided to let him go with dignity.

Such a gentleman and dear companion, we feel privileged to have had him in our lives.

Vet was fantastic....we slipped into sleep gracefully and we spent 45 minswith him - we also had Daisy our 9 month retriever puppy and our cat Lolly there to say their goodbyeS. Lolly was only a month old when we got Indy and they were inseparable.

Horribly painful right and the poor Bequity Terrorist (Jan) is heartbroken, but she knows of course it was the right decision to put him to sleep.

Good bye my dear friend

The worst, hardest but best decision you have had to make for Indy 🌈❤️

You will still feel the occasional nudge of his nose in your hand , he won’t be far away

It's the hardest decision we all have to make for our 4 legged companions, we know it's the right decision but it's still hard.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. They really are part of the family.

They give you some of the best days and certainly one of the worst when the fateful day comes. You did the right thing for him and were there for him in the end.

A friend sent me this when I had to put my dog to sleep. I hope you find some comfort in the words.

Arron.

We were shocked by the speed and growth of the tumour.

Sorry your dear pet suffered the same fate.

Just wanted to say thank you for everybody’s kind words and support. They are much appreciated and help with our hurt.

We know with pets that at some point we will lose them, but when it actually happens it is such a huge loss - no matter how prepared we think we are.

Daisy our 9 month retriever pup had here first night without Indy.... We left Indy’s bed in the kitchen with her and she never left it through the night, what suprised me was even the cat was sharing Indy’s bed with her. She cried for an hour but then settled down. I always get up first to make the coffee and let the the animals out..... walking into the kitchen first this morning and not being greeted by Indy was tough.

I do think letting Daisy say goodbye to Indy after he had been put to sleep has really helped her - she is missing him, but not in a confused fretful way.

We have a sunny start to the day so we are taking Daisy out to Indy’s favourite bit of beach and we will remember our happy times.

Thank you all
