Last Friday I got a message from the van alarm system advising that the vehicle battery was low. Bit of a surprise as it had been on hook up on the drive for 3 weeks and the Sargent system alternates between batteries every 4 hours. I checked the control panel and the battery was reading very low so manually switched to charging the vehicle battery which took 14.7 amps. However it was flat again in morning, even after charging I could watch it’s power drop off the scale.

So phoned the Safeguard breakdown number and was told the AA would be there within an hour. I got an text updating arrival to 50 minutes and another advising the vans number, useful if you are waiting at the roadside, not quite so important when at home. He arrived on time, quickly diagnosed a dead battery- van was new in July 2018 - told me the price of a replacement, went and got it and swapped it over. Caused the alarm to trigger and calls from alarm company.

Then he cleared all the engine management warnings triggered by battery removal.

All finished within 2 hours of arrival.

We’re quick to moan about poor service but I must admit I thought this was quite impressive

That’s a couple of threads this week about good service. I do like to read about good service. Let’s keep this type of thread going into next year.
Thanks for posting.

We also have had excellent service from Safeguard. Once after getting off the Dunoon ferry and our fuel filter failing - thought we would be marooned for days but sorted in 45 minutes! And secondly being taken off Skye after completely breaking down with another problem. Efficient service, keep you updated on what is happening and when someone will be arriving and both times no charge and no increase in premium either.

To be completely fair I should also include Van Bitz and Trackstar as their equipment notified of original problem and reacted as required to the battery disconnection
