I received a text from Lebara today, good news for anyone out of contract who is being charged for roaming.

Any onerous’Fair Use’ restrictions in the T&Cs?

I haven't seen anything, but I haven't been out of the country since switching. They started as a cheap international call provider so I don't think there would be a problem, I will check before we go abroad.

Plusnet plans include free roaming. EE network too 👍

According to Moneysavingexpert.com EE started charging £2 per day from 3 March 2022 "for those who took out new contracts or recontracted after 6 July 2021."

Yes that's right but you can use the EE network via plusnet much cheaper... Roam like at home 👇😎👌

Lebara are great, cheap deal and international calls, best thing I did changing to them.

It will no doubt finish like Octopus energy, great deal to start with and then when they become really popular expensive and not good to deal with.

I had to dig down but found this in Lebara T & C.

Important bits to know

  1. Fair usage of 10GB data, 200 outgoing mins, 200 incoming mins and 200 outgoing text messages applies on a calendar month basis.

Octopus are turning out to be a bad move for us. 🤷‍♂️

No good for streaming TV then abroad..BUSBY.

We were away in Greece last week using EE. Despite various prior warnings about £2 a day roaming surcharge for contract phones when we arrived we were told everything was still 'in bundle'.

Was with them under a yr ago, the fair usage cut in at 5gb, warning me at 3 or 4gb used. Soon as we got back, I switched it over to Plusnet.

Giffgaff 20gb for £12 was the best I could find. 20gb roaming included. Runs on O2. No contract.

I am with octopus not had any problems yet what trouble have you had?
They don’t reply to emails for ages because they have now got so many customers due to a lot of firms going bust, they are now charging me more than other suppliers for a unit of electric and standing charge is expensive

Thanks I will look into that

Unless you have a plan which includes their "Special benefits" where you can choose free Roaming...or if not pay £10 p/m to give you free Roaming which i have done.... gives me 50gb p/m...and when you return home you just switch the Roaming off and the £10 stops... then switch on again if you go off travelling again..

Not much extra use over normal, Christmas to now we’ve paid them over £1500! We’re supposed to be on a fixed tariff, so I asked them to check their figures, which they say are right for my tariff. Heading for an energy bill of between £5000 and £6000 at this rate……up from less than £2000 per year. 🤷‍♂️

Only two of us in the house.

Thats a crazy figure they wanted to put ours up from £100 too £169 I refused and they left it

Anything other than Unlimited data for max of £30 per month anywhere in Europe with no extra charges is a rip off.
Whoever the provider is.

Good luck!

Closest I've found to that is the Tiekom deal widely discussed in another thread

Ours is currently £300 a month, and we’re £21 in the red still. 🤷‍♂️

Ours used to be about £160….which covered both gas and electricity…..and we were in credit.
