May I ask you on the dimensions of your Burstner garage door that you put the 390 in.
May look at one myself IF it will go in my garage (but it’s unlikely😞)
Hi, the opening in my garage door measures 33” wide and 45” high. There is a couple of inches spare height wise when I put the bike in so could get away with say 43”. I do have to remove the mirrors but that’s only a 30 second job with a 14mm spanner. I do however have to give the bars a “wiggle” to get them through the door. Again, you could give them a slightly bigger wiggle to get them through a slightly smaller gap.

I reckon it would wiggle in.

If I put new tyres on my 999 the garage door wont close unless I angle the bike a little across the garage. It is a tight fit. 😎

I thought I might have had to do that too but it fits with about 15mm to spare.

What I'am trying to point out is what a bargain it is, keep it for a year or two and you will get your money back on it. By then the 790 will have been on the road for a year or so and any problems with it will be known by then. I love the 690,it is such a laugh in the twistys and a great bike to take with us in the motorhome due to it's light weight and upright riding position for sightseeing.
Well I was wrong about the 790, I had a few problems in the first year and being on a 790/890 Facebook forum And reading about more horrendous problems convinced me to get rid of it when the 2 year warranty ran out. I sold it privately and bought a 1290 SDR, totally love it. The 790 was a bike I bought because the initial ride was good but once purchased realised it had limitations, whereas the SDR is a bike that delivers and a bike you just can’t stop looking at when you get off it. Just back a week ago from 2 months in Europe, running it in and riding it in various countries.

You lot may scoff, but 43bhp was the output of my 1968 Triumph Trophy, considered by many, including me, to be a top bike at the time!
Yebbut they also had wooden brakes back then! :giggle:

Right i have now sorted the method of transporting a bike with us....Now any advice would be welcome as i cant make my mind up on which bike.... I've narrowed my choice down to two...either 390 or 690 duke...the 390 is a bit smaller but the weight difference isn't a lot from what i can see... but I'm also 6'4,....I'm also used to big bikes previously...Yam Exup, Suz TLS 1000... to name two... will i find the 390 too underpowered ... it will be used in UK during summer mostly solo and taken with us in MH in Europe in Autumn/Spring...and also with wife as pillion when abroad.. any thoughts would be welcome..

Ok seriously, get the 690r. The 390 is uninspiring.

No way! 😳 The 390 is a hoot to ride. Not as ridiculously fast as my ninja 600 was but very nice to ride, I have a big smile on my face every time I get off it and it's a lot less likely to kill me 😎👍

Must admit that looks cutting edge and a hoot to ride but must remember my age 🤬

😏 Yeah can very well be, but have you ever had your arse on a 100+ bhp bike? I'm going to plead the 5th ammendment now 🤐😁
Err, yes, but my 911 felt a whole lot safer!

OK so I'm now veering towards the 690 again.... who has one...pro's and con's please....and is there a massive difference between pre and post updated models.. Oh and will the wife refuse to get on the back of it after one ride...bearing in mind she used to pillion all the time on my TLs... but that was a fair few years ago..

I think the 690 is discontinued, it was old, no LED lighting 😔. If you can take the extra weight (20kg) the 790 is the one. It's a twin cylinder engine too so will run smoother.
