I also love their services, always feels extra clean but even for a motorway service stop they are hellish expensive.

We especially like the seating outside the back of the restaurant, by the pond.

Wild birds to watch, including the moorhen that forages under the tables for scraps. :xsmile:

Not sure about the south one but it definitely is a feature at the north one where we stop often.

Just out of interest, do you park in the coach area or in with the cars?

Is that the one where they sell all the lovely, expensive, healthy food, an amazing place, we spend plenty. I had to tell the wife I had just had a phone call and we had a burst water pipe at home to drag her away.

There are showers as well, we overnighted there earlier in the year, you get a £5 voucher when you pay for overnight to spend in the cafe. Yes they are owned and run by same people as tebay .

Just sat here having a lovely bacon and cheese bap and a coffee

I wasn't intending to venture out tonight but your reference to a bacon and cheese bap has tipped me over the edge:xThumb:

We have stooped there on our way somewhere , can’t think where we were going now. Just wanted to see what it was all about. Just remembered on our way to Malvern. Loved it, the building etc with all the wood and lighting. Yes it was expensive for the food etc, but then all motorway Services are. (y)

Both North and South are to the same very, very, high standard. They were contacted during the construction period, by Motorhome Tourism, so built separate larger bay Caravan and Motorhome area, to that for cars, coaches and HGVs. There is also provision for MH parking by the door for Blue Badge holders.

They gave consideration in both also for a toilet dump but because they are not on mains drainage they decided the additional cost of fitting a separate tank to avoid contamination by chemicals of their bio reed bed system and the extra cost of emptying that was not justified. They also feared misuse by locals from a site nearby.

These are the only services I know where you are greeted by the smell of fresh baked bread and food. The food is great freshly cooked and not the usual burger or chicken offerings with very expensive coffee and cake as the only other choice. I haven't had the chance to use Tebay Services or Tebay truck stop yet, which are owned by the same family firm, Westmorland Ltd.

After using these services and then going into other UK service areas, you realise just how bad UK motorway catering gone. They are no longer fit for purpose but nothing will be done without government will.

Great rest stop....but the management should do something about the cars parking where they shouldn't..ie..in the motorhome bit.
