We really like the look of a Globecar we saw today. However, I wondered if the bed looked a little flimsy?? The mattress looked comfy but the struts holding up the bed are on the narrow side. Is this an issue can anyone say? It looked to have masses of storage and the compromise for us is less lounging space but we are usually outside. Any thoughts anyone.?

We love ours and find it very comfy.
Huge storage space as well.

Which model are you looking at?

dont know which model your looking at but we have a 2014 campscout and have to say the bed is very well built and very comfortable. the only problem we had was we had to buy super king size duvet as bed was bigger than we thought!!

We came from an 8.5m A class to Campscout this February and have come to terms with space/lounging issues but have not found anything flimsy about the beds.....

Which Globecar are you looking at? We have the Campscout which works well for us (2 adults - though we have also travelled with teenage son). We can only do 2 weeks at a time and the Campscout works well.
Storage is amazing. We love the fact the circular shower can cut off front from back. The shower is quite good and spacious but you will benefit from a few mods to make or work better.
The pinch points are lounging space, bikes have to travel on the back, you have a bit more climb into the bed than with a double floor a class, and there’s not a completely separate shower (good for wet coats).
The bed is robust - nothing flimsy. On cold nights I feel it coming up through gaps in cushions but that is easily sorted.
The obvious comparison to make is with a compact A class.
When we retire we will reevaluate, but at the moment the Campscout works for us.

As an aside, I think they do a model with the layout same as mine (Tribute 670), which is with the forward lounge with table/small bed, and a rear lounge plus another table/double bed which you make up at night. You of course lose the huge storage, but there are side lockers under the bed where you can store items. We have made up a sliding panel which we put across the front of the rear bed (keep up!) so we can carry things in the gangway while travelling.

Incidentally , if you are wondering if you'll be able to sleep across the van, we also use a soft bolster which is made up of a short length of sponge curled up inside an old pajama leg, that fits just under your head/neck, rather than a deep standard pillow, giving you more leg length across the van. Done as a trial, but has lasted years.

Meant to add - if ordering from new I would strongly advise going for the optional 3 way fridge. Whilst the electric fridge does an excellent job it limits you to a maximum of 3 days off grid (in one place, without driving) before your battery depletes. We have solar plus 2 leisure batteries and this is still the case.

I endorse Grianan's recommendation to go for the optional 3-way (12v/230v/gas) fridge. Pleased we did that and got the larger fridge, too.

We have managed 5 days with the same set up as you, it was very sunny.

How effective are 3 way fridges when it’s really hot and do the freezer compartments work.

I’ve never had A 3 way fridge for comparison

It’s a Globecar Globescout relay 2014. i will check up on the fridge as I didn’t think about it being anything other than 3 way which is what we have in our Rapido.

So is yours electric too? On day 4 battery was on red. But October so short days though they were sunny. How. Much solar fo you have? Was trying to guess how the advantage of sun giving solar power Is offset by sun meaning fridge has to work harder.

Only 3 way fridge I’ve had was in caravan years (decades) ago and didn’t work well at all off gas. I presume they’re better now as folk spend weeks on some sites with no electric.

our fridge is electric I really wouldn’t fancy a three way.
120 solar and 2 leisure battrries

We are happy with the bed in our Campscout Revolution. We have a large 3 way fridge and it does the job perfectly. Its a manual one and Im about to swap it over for an AES one I bought on the forum.

WE have had a globecar family scout L with three way fridge for the past 6 years and its always worked ok for us and the bed is ok too with a nice topper.

I'd guess that the OP is looking at a coach built with a drop down bed? We have a Campscout - very comfy full length bed and very solidly put together.
We're slightly missing the flexibility provided by the 3 way fridge e had in our previous van but are looking sort out battery capacity and solar to improve the off grid possibilities. We have made shower improvements and lovely the van.
