Excellent review thanks.
I couldn't understand how the sell or buy bit worked.
He said he liked being in control, so did that mean he had to check the price ever hour to decide what he wanted to do?

You will find that it’s the rectifier that manages the input output for your batteries there are many providers out there Solis is one of the popular makes

Regarding batteries again many makes and Pylon is one of the popular brands and has been in business since 2009. Give energy has been about since 2018.

You can export the energy and get paid for it however this isn’t a DIY solution.

You will need to contact your electricity provider and inform them of the works you have had done and to set up your smart export payments. You will need the MCS certificate and DNO approval for this and send them pictures of your smart meter if you have one installed.

Octopus give quite a good feed in tarrif.

And finally if you want to play with home automation

The buy/sell is automated through the app. The app downloads the next day's prices and imports or exports power depending on the rules setup in the app.

The tariff can be flexible and on the 1/2 hour it’s all automated

EVM seems to be using a lot of electricity just to charge his EV. His annual KWh are about 6 times mine.

His tariff figures are now well out of date. Has he done an update yet?

Edit - higher tariffs should have the benefit of reducing the time it takes to pay back the investment he made.
