Yes I know it's not Spain and I do know it's really short notice but I'm going to be back here tomorrow and Sunday and tried to book a guided tour of the place.

No one else has booked tomorrow or Sunday so it was going to cost me £220 quid.

Thought I'd check on here on the off chance that anyone is going to be there and fancies splitting the cost.

The tour I was looking at is roughly 2 and a half hours and takes in the 100 ton gun, Europa Point, The Pillars of Hercules, St Michael’s Cave, Interaction with the rock apes, the Great Siege Tunnels and The Moorish Castle.

Be looking to get picked up somewhere handy in Gib.

Anyone interested?

Have you been along Main Street ? From Casements Square up after about 500m it opens up and to the right are mini vans that do the tours, owner operated ,you could just rock up and join another party and split the cost.

If you're able bodied I'm not sure you need a guided tour. We went up on the cable car and then walked down. You can get a ticket that includes the cable car and all the sites. Costs around £25. On the way down you pass all the sites. There are lots of information boards. There was a lot to see and we didn't leave enough time to see everything. On foot 2 and a half hours wasn't enough for us. We're very slow site seers. So I would say make an early start. Sorry if this isn't what you want. Must admit the walk down did my knees in. Its steep. £220 sound VERY expensive. What's included? When you enter Gibraltar taxis will take you up for the same price as the cable car if you don't fancy using that.

Hardly worth a guide. The 100 ton gun is worth a look, walk up from casements along main street, do the cable car and you can usually get tickets for the underground tours as and when. To be fair, most of Gib is a bit grotty. If you go up the top watch the apes - they'll nick anything not nailed down. Around 3/4 down main St heading south there used to be a brilliant morrocan hole in the wall take away.

Still waiting for an op for a slipped disc so can't walk far unfortunately. The guided bus tour seemed the best way to see everything but obviously expensive if no other takers.

No big deal I'm sure I can get to the cable car and take it from there.

I was there 2 weekends ago and planned to do the sightseeing but ended up spending 2 days in the casino. Made a bit of cash but when I get to bet at 5.30 in the morning I'm struggling to get any touristy stuff done later that day and when I finally sobered up it was too windy to venture out. (day that BA plane trying to land was filmed)

I'm my own worst enemy!

We got a taxi at the border,,he gave us a great tour. Dropped us off in town afterwards,,Think it was about £30 about 6 years ago. BUSBY.

That’s expensive, does that include a stick of rock.
Went there a few years ago wandered down the shopping street then up in the cable thing and that was enough.

You can get a mini bus tour with other people from the entrance to the cable car. Think it was £25 a head and they took you to several stops.

Went to the cable car station, queue was out the door so I went to get some lunch.

Went back up and queue was even further out the door so I spoke to the taxi guys and they'd be about 2 and a half hours. Declined as I wanted to be back for the football.

If I'm not too hungover tomorrow I'll try again.

There are lots of tours going from the main square or roads close to there. You can haggle on price. I can't recall how much we paid but it was something like £40 for 4 of us. A solo person can easily join a group.

On our first visit, we took the cable car up and walked back down and thought "is this it ?". On a later visit, we took a minibus tour and were well impressed with the places and things you get to see, the driver also pointed out lots of stuff that we hadn't even noticed on our "walking tour". I'd say make time for a mini bus guided tour. (y)

As the cable car was closed due to wind we were advised to use one of the taxis outside the border post who were offering tours - had an excellent tour, which included admission to all the sights, a running commentary over the 3 hours or so and dropped off in the centre of town, all for around £75 for the two of us. We worked out afterwards that removing the admissions the taxi cost us about £25. Excellent value, but about 4 years ago.

Well I was too hungover this morning. I rolled out the casino about 4am, in to bed then woke up pretty rough at 9 for breakfast. Just hopped on my bike and went straight back across the border to the van and headed up to Malaga for a flight tomorrow.

2k up from the casino, mustn't grumble :)
