Hi,
This is my first post, and this summer will be my first time taking a camper van to the Continent.
I am planning on crossing via the Channel Tunnel. We have about 3 weeks, and then have to pass on the camper to other family members in Frankfurt before flying home .
I would welcome any suggestions as to places and camp sites that are worth visiting.
Regards,
Jodel

Has to be Moselle and Rhein. Millions of sites, millions of sights.

Do a search for Mosslle by Snowbird for detailed information.

Hi Jodel,
Willkommen!! We have only had our van just over a year and Germany was our first overseas trip in it. We had camped and caravanned extensively in France before but never in Germany.
We had to start in Dortmund where we dropped my son off at his friends house then had 8 days before we had to pick him up in Regensburg then another 5 days to get to Holland to have our bike rack fitted.
We did a lot of km but saw some wonderful places including
- the Mosel
- Rothenburg ob der Tauber
- Alpenstrasse from Fussen to Königsee
I would recommend any or all of these.
here’s a link to my photo thread ...

Stellplatz are excellent - either free or upto €10 some are ‘relaxed’ some have marked pitches and even electricity.

we didn’t book and went first 2 weeks in August.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions. Our interests would be lakes, swimming, cycling, walking and good interesting food. Also good scenery and mountains.
Regards,
Jodel

Hi, We love Germany and spend several months each year there. A couple of favourites are Lake Starnberg using Camping Beim Fischer. http://www.camping-beim-fischer.de/

Another lovely place is Reil on the Mosel. We will be there beginning of April for most of the summer.

So can I assume that not speaking German is not a problem?

We didn’t find it a problem but we did learn a handful of German words to break the ice. Not everyone speaks English but we always got by. Since we got back I’ve started learning German though and am itching for a return visit!
