Well what a great day. Sun all day long, nice early walk in the very huge park out the stelplatz. Then a return ride on the cable car followed by all afternoon in the zoo which is fantastic and needed more time to see it all.
Cable car €6.50 or a combi ticket for car, zoo and aquarium for €18.50 and in hindsight we should have done that as the zoo is €14.50 alone

Lindt chocolate museum well worth a visit in Koln! They also make it on view and sell it there!

I'm looking for recommendations for Thursday
Choices
Aachen
Antwerp
Brugge
?
We enjoyed both Brugge and Aachen. I suppose, on balance, Brugge wins it in my book because you can not only enjoy the town on foot but there are also lovely boat rides on the canals so you can see the place from 2 completely different perspectives. If you have bikes with you, you can also go for a bike ride down the river bank from the Stellplatz at the Marina/Coach Park. Plenty of Belgian chocolate for sale!

Aachen is set in a valley surrounded by hills and the stellplatz we stayed in was a bit out on one of the hills so the walk in and out took a while and with bikes we would have been walking back up anyway. Nice town centre with impressive cathedral and town hall and a nice grassy park with cafe/bar/restaurant to sit out and people watch. Plenty of ice cream on sale!

Not been to Antwerp!

I agree, prefer Ghent, and still not far to the ferry. Remember if you order a steak it could well be ' shergar'
Safe journeys,

Arrived in Brugge early afternoon.
There are two parking areas as you come in and both same organisation and pricing
We are in the one on the right, this has very tight spaces but we'd already come through the barrier. The one across the road is far more generous on width.
€25 high season
€19 October 1st to March 31st
Includes electric and services

The parking area is no longer as pictured in the bottom of this photo , the spaces are very much wider and now signed as overnight

We stayed on the larger aire across the road as we were with a funster with an RV, they were wider parking places and nice grass area with bench table/seat, we paid 25 euros a night in July

Brugge is just too much to take in ,absolutely packed with history and architecture. A lovely place but victim of its own success. It's just not very pedestrian friendly due to the crowds and tw@ts on two wheels as well as four
