IIassume your meaning the heating.
No reason why you can't.. . But you certainly won't be popular with a Genny banging away half the night.
I say half the night because the fuel tank will only give three or four hours run time before running out.
They are noisy during the day but at night it will be deafening with the lack of other noise to muffle it.
Got solar. Battery fully charged but when running the heating the battery died. We were wild camping and have done so in the summer with no issues but didnt need the heating then. This winter, wild camped again and battery died. Hence my question about a gennie
Battery charging takes quite a low power compared to the power output capability of most generators. For example, a 20 amp charger uses only 20 x 12 = 240 watts of the generator's output. So to charge batteries you have to run the generator for several hours at low output. That means generators are not very efficient in charging batteries.
Even if you get a charger that can charge at the maximum rate that the batteries can take, it will still take 2.5 hours. That is maybe just about acceptable in some situations.
The annoyance factor of generators depends on how long they are running. A generator will do the job, if you and your neighbours can stand the noise.
