General Morocco Thread 2026

This is making my decision to fit a compressor fridge, diesel heater, microwave/air fryer/convection oven and carry two tefal induction hobs a good idea, and with all the solar and battery power on board I think I would be good to go with just two 11kg full Gaslow bottles for 3 and a bit months😉👍😁😁😁

Definitely worth doing all those upgrades especially the fridge & air fryer/convection combo
We have 2 x 11kg gas low fitted and wouldn't use both of them in 2 years
Once you fit all that you'll barely ever need gas

Hello just caught up with this thread meeting family in Marrakesh in a couple of weeks so instead of going through 30+ pages where about is it at the border you get the unlimited sim, would save me a stop at Asilah. Thanks

You might learn a lot more by reading it all, its generally worth it, rather than expect someone else do your work. Or google it. Personally I always find its worth starting at the beginning of a thread.

There are kiosks on Tanger Med port car park, on your left after you have cleared the customs checks.
Beware of the (illegal) SIM card touts that appear in the queue for the aforementioned customs sheds.

Hi Carol if you go over past Morocco threads you’ll find I’ve helped with lots of info. Don’t think it was to much to ask for a quick and specific answer.

I don't think any of the card sellers at the port did unlimited data.
In fact earlier this year we could only get unlimited at Inwi and they wanted a fee of about £25 for the privilege on top of the deal.

We used Orange e sim and a Maroc Telecom scratch card about 10 for 10 gb renewable all over the place

We went in the Maroc Telecom office in Larache. The lady sent us out to the street seller outside to buy a scratch card which was absolutely fine

That’s good info for me. It was Larache I wanted to stop at for a change but wasn’t sure about getting the sim there. How did you go about getting from the card to your phone easy enough ??? . Sorry about questions questions 👍

The street seller did it for me and I gave him 20 MAD

Similar for us. The Orange Travel eSIM in the phone worked flawlessly - sorted before entry and activated on arrival.

I had a sh1t experience with INWI as their advertised - and paid for - GBs never matched the actual used , never again! Maroc Telecom were spot on and they have an office just off the main square in Larache.

So is anyone still out and about. we are meeting up with family in Marrakesh for 7-10 days before heading south. Picture is the surfboard in trafrout and I believe Ken aka @Canopus

Those photos are not from this year 👍

I thought it might be a good idea to get come Moroccan Dirhams in the UK ahead of our forthcoming trip to Morocco. Google tells me this morning that 1 MAD is equivalent to 7.9 p so 2000 MAD, the most that can be taken into Morroco (per person?), is equivalent to about £158. However the cost of buying 2000 MAD from M&S or Eurochange is much higher at around £236. Is it much more expensive to buy the Dirhams in the UK rather than in Morroco?

if you have a decent 0% charge foreign use card (Chase, Lloyds ultra, nationwide, Barclays rewards etc) then ATM is the way nowadays with cash.

Not changed money in the UK or anywhere physical for years. Very old school!

Leaving in 2 weeks for Morrocco so just started tho think of a rough plan. So many options!! We've only got 4 weeks inside Morocco - looks to be nowhere near enough

Anyone got a suggested route to include some relaxation time in the coast, some nice smaller towns and villages, some mountains and easy hiking ???

Was thinking of getting to the Sahara but maybe that will have to wait for a future trip.

No 4 weeks isn't really enough but still better than nothing lol
For a 4 week trip you could head down the Atlantic coast side maybe as far as Essaouira then inland towards Marrakech then either further east to Erg Chebbi in the Sahara and then northwards or from Marrakech north towards the Riff mountains Chefchaouen etc and back to Tangier Med port you could do either one of those routes in 4 weeks unless your wanting to stay for several days in some of them but if its just a day or two here and there then you'll be fine,
A lot depends on your pace you want to travel at
But any way you go you'll still enjoy it and at least you'll have lots left over to come back and enjoy another year 🙂
Hope you have a great trip anyway

Hi Vexman another alternative head to Marrakesh then over the Tizi n tichka pass to Erb Chebbi you’ll pass Ait Benhaddou Dades gorge Todra gorge. Now follow captainPauls route or head to Tafroute for hiking then Sidi Ifni on the coast and work your way up with what time you have left. Essaouira well worth a stop tho I believe only day time parking now.
ps we will be in Le Relaise camping Marrakesh 10th to 19th meeting family if your about
Paid €170 return DFDS phone only

Roughly this. Inland Morocco far nicer than the coast in general.
Chefchouan, Fez, Marrakesh, Tizi…then up Dades and down Todra or opposite way round. An absolutely stunning drive via Agoudal.
Work your way to Merzouga and back via Err Rich and Midelt

We’re currently in Spain after using Milo’s pet passport to enter France on Brittany Ferries in September and have subsequently travelled into Spain. I’ve probably asked this question before but I’m getting a little nervous of taking our dog into Morroco and back again into Spain now that the Spanish authorities have said that EU pet passports issued to UK dogs are not valid for entry into Spain from the UK.

Can someone remind what are the critical documents required to import a dog back into Spain from Morocco? The dog’s titre test result is recorded in his EU PP and I have the paper copy of the results from the testing lab.

You need a Spanish vets AHC most vets in the Algeciras area will do them for you
Its basically just an official confirmation of what's on your pet passport and titre test etc
The vet then emails all this to the animal export/import people at the port, they email him back the official paperwork which if your still about he'll print out for you or if your already in Morocco he can email you your copy which you can print out in Morocco
This document guarantees you & your pup safe passage back into Spain
They are rarely checked so some people dont bother but if your unlucky and they do check you coming back then its a lot of hassle you could do without
This system has been going in various forms for about 4 years, I personally use it every time for my 3 dogs and 3 times waved through and 1 time stopped and checked
Cost last year was around €170 per dog but this may vary by different vets
Enjoy Maroc 🙂

I just searched through my old emails there and found the certificate that they emailed me while I was already in Morocco
Ive deleted my personal info obviously but this is what you'll need for a stress free return 🙂
If i can help you in any other way give me a shout
