My Gemini fob has 4 buttons, one of wich has a spot with semi circular beams radiating from it, this is the one for setting the perimeter alarm without activating the internal sensors.

The system can be armed without the Gemini fob but you will need to use the electronic key. This is how the manual describes it:
2.2 - SYSTEM ARMING WITH SENSOR EXCLUSION
The system can be armed without activating internal volumetric protection (wireless infrared or wireless hyperfrequency) while keeping perimeter protection. To do so proceed as follows:
3 Make sure the system is disarmed and ignition key is “OFF”;
3 Insert the electronic key into its receptacle*; the LED will give a quick flash;
3 Close vehicle doors and press the lock button on the vehicle original remote control*;
3 System activation is confirmed by a beep and a flash of the turn indicators (if features are enabled).
NB With the optional Gemini remotes, simply press Button 3 once all doors are closed.

With the two button remote I think you just set it with button 1 and then within 25 press button two, the indicators will flash to confirm.

Our Gemini alarm fob has 2 buttons. The top one is dimpled. To set the alarm so that you can move about when inside the van, you press the dimpled button once and then immediately press the lower button once.

We find that when disarming the alarm as in the morning, you press the top button once BUT then you have to open either of the cab doors within 25 seconds or the alarm resets and will go off. So, alarm off by clicking dimpled button, open hab door, nip to the front cab door open and close and all's well.
