Hi just had a gaslow fitted and was wondering if it is better to fill up here or in Spain when we get there on the 25th, it will be the first time I have used a gas pump so any tips would be helpful. Tia

Hi in Spain the attendants are really helpful, do you have the Spanish adapter to fit to your fill point. It will be cheaper to fill in Spain 👍

Fill here if you can and then whenever necessary
I have a full set of EU adapters but never needed them.
I always found there is an attendant with a pocket full of his own adapters.

Be sure to only “part fill” on the first fill.

Any dealer who fits a gas system should give a report to show it has been tested and have gas in to show you it working. Also a gas certificate

Id do a test small fill here for my own peice of mind.
Then sprayall seals etc to make sure no leaks, then fill her up.

If you are heading to dover there are plenty on the way and one right near the terminal

I'm surprised that where you had it fitted did not partially fill it for you or, at the very least, advise you on how it worked?

As a back-up on safety, at every fill I calculate how much it should take and watch the pump total, so that if the 80% safety cut-off failed I would know to stop. Not happened yet in 10 years.

If you go to YouTube and search " filling with autogas " there are several videos showing how to

use the pumps
the different styles of nozzle
how to lock them on to the filler nozzle

There will be a short, loud hiss of escaping gas as you disconnect.

Best to fill up here first and check for leaks.fittings are brass and can be overtightened by some dealers leading to cracks etc.
As said first time only part fill. 6 kg will take 11 litres approx. The first time you fill it can be quite daunting.read the instructions fully before starting.

To ensure the 80% safety system activates properly.
You should have been told.
Just as important, is if you have a leak in your system and it cant be fixed easily there wont be too much gas to escape.

This doesn’t say anything about part filling..? It does say to pay attention to the capacity that is going into the cylinders to see if the 80% shut off is working and of course it will never work unless it is completely filled…. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I wonder if Basildog could clarify it for us then, as I must have clearly misunderstood what the man from Gaslow told me at the NEC.

As I said earlier. I'm surprised that the people that fitted it did not put gas into it?

How can they test the system without gas???? Do they just use compressed air??

I’m afraid I wasn’t standing next to you at the stand, I’m only going by the information you posted…😎
