I have trawled the search function and found a lot of useful information, but I was wondering if anyone can narrow down the differences in the two systems and any preferences, I am a Gas Engineer so looking at the best system to purchase with after sale help etc, planning on a 6KG bottle with a Calor as a backup.

All these systems work well. Choose on price, colour and weight. Personally, I'd go for more than 6kg, even if it requires foregoing the Calor backup. Just refill a larger system earlier so you don't need a backup.

I would like to but I think the locker on the new MH will only accept 6KG same as our current Hymer?

If you like yellow and want to pay extra, buy Gaslow. Want to save cash buy Gasit. Both do the same job and are hidden from view.

Both made in the same factory, Gas-it bottle are Stako rebranded.
I prefer Alugas better made and lighter but I don't think they do a 6kg.
6kg is a bit small are you sure an 11kg won't fit as the collars are temovable on the bottles making them lower.

Ah....the refillable gas conundrum.... there isn't a right answer....it is what works for you... Sadly the UK is snobbish with brands...like there is this one and maybe that one and nothing else is out there.....same with cars, bicycles etc.....
Really you have the Alugas, Gaslow, Gasit....or the fillable Safefill bottles.... all do the same job in essence..... it is what works for your unit really in size wise then personal choice in the end..., the tape measure needs to come out methinks and look around at the bottle weights if that is a thing for you and bottle physical size.....one thing they all have in common....they are locked away out of sight..... Safe Travels...

Not sure I follow the rationale for retaining a Calor bottle?

Ian

Another vote for Alugas to agree with Lenny HB, my cylinder has 14kg capacity and weighs 7.6kg empty, Calor say their 6kg cylinder has an empty weight between 7.3 and 10.9kg!
It’s a massive difference and significant if you are short of payload.
Oh and Autogas 2000 give a Funster discount!

Gasit cylinders are actually more expensive than Gaslow cylinders at the moment ☹️

Definitely not made in the same factory, Alugas cylinders use exactly the same multi valve as the Gaslow cylinders , 10 years warranty on Gaslow with only a year on Alugas, massive price increases on all cylinders at the moment and doubtful we will see any Alugas cylinders this year now .

We have one of each, started off with 2x 6g gasit then swapped a funster a 6kg for an 11kg gaslow bottle. Suits us much better now. 👍

I think the more expensive bottles are better than the cheaper ones, but not in proportion to their cost.
If cost is not a consideration but payload is, get an Aluminium one.
If you get one large bottle and manage it well, you will not need the second one. So I'd seriously consider getting a large one.

We have the Gasit system (11kg cylinder plus external fill point & Bluetooth sensor), with a 6kg flogas cylinder as backup (which we’ve never yet needed). Can’t fault Gasit support, they were superb both when seeking advice before purchase & afterwards when we had a faulty BT sensor (after a year) which they replaced without a quibble. It’s also cheaper than the equivalent in Gaslow & we get 10% discount with Blue Light Card (emergency services & forces both serving & retired).

We could only get 2X 6kg calor in our locker, but can get 2X 11kg in the refillables so worth checking. Gasit is rubber hoses Gaslow is braided hoses I thought.

My first thought but its no longer an option for some reason on the new Transits, not sure why yet.
If there is a space then I reckon you can get one to fit as they come in all different sizes, take a look at Tinley Tech

We have a Gasit 25 litre underslung tank, and am also able to connect a bottle if required. The 25 litre tank is a bit small for extended trips in the winter as our Burstner 7.5 mtr A class takes quite a bit of gas to keep it warm. So it’s handy to be able to carry a bottle as a back up.

I have found Calor to be the most stocked cylinder in the UK, so if at any point we were sited we could still exchange cylinders and if you were abroad and had an issue with the fill system you could fit any locally available bottle in the space, all unlikely I guess, also it would be half the initial cost.

We have a B584 and our locker holds 2 x 11kg Gaslow bottles, your locker is same as ours so a 6kg bottle would fall in there.
Off grid they last at least 8 weeks depends on the weather.
Don't bother with Calor, too expensive, last fill up on both our bottles was £25 for 30ltrs, and that wasn’t the cheapest! Even cheaper in France.

Thanks for the input, I hadn't realised that the physical size of cylinders between 6/11 would be so similar so when we pick it up I will getthe tape measure out.

I think Lenny HB was saying Gasit & Gaslow are both produced by Stako, Alugas are a different animal altogether,

Significantly cheaper in Belgium. 28 cents per litre just over the French border between junctions last year.

What age B584 are you getting, this is our 2001 B584 with 2x11kg Gaslow and the small filler point.

We are in the process of selling our 01 B584 ironically!
Lovely quality van fair play to the Germans and their detailing.

That’s why I said that they aren’t , Gasit and Gaslow aren’t made in the same factory.
Gaslow and Alugas use the same multi valve.

We have 2 x 11 kg Alugas and find them excellent.
Right now you may not have too much choice in the matter due to shortages.
