First trip out in our new mh using gaz, our previous one had the Gaslow fitted. We have been on ehu most of the time.
After 12 nights away, using it most evenings for cooking, cups of tea, and not much else we are well into our 2nd 6kg bottle.
This strikes me as a lot.
I know this is a "how long is a piece of string " question, but on average how long would you expect a 6kg bottle to last?
Thanks

I think some of the bigger fridges use a fair bit. We recon 4 to 5 weeks for 11 kg including everything except heating which is diesel. Sounds like refillables will quickly be worth it for you

i would suggest quite a lot longer, even including fridge use, given your suggested usage, but as you say it’s a difficult one to guesstimate.

I‘d be looking at either getting a gas test done or get some leak detector spray or meter.

Our fridge is a thirsty beast on gas the fridge fan on the top vent has helped a lot. We can use the best part of a 6Kg in a long weekend sometimes.
We put freezer blocks in the freezer which keeps it cold helping the fridge part to work better.
Turn it down to just 3 lights or less you want just enough to keep anything frozen or the beer cold enough.
Before we ventured into wild type camping with this I mean the field type sites we used 1 6Kg bottle in a year.
If possible park so the side your fridge is on in the shade.
You could also turn it off at night.
When we had a gas problem in our fridge on a really hot May bank holiday the other year whilst wild camping.
We got it as cold as possible on hookup at home before leaving then filled it with plenty of freezer blocks and cold water in it kept it cold enough for the weekend.
After all it’s just a big insulated cold box.

If you take a photo of the plate inside your fridge,(you may be able to read it without a photo but my varifocals don't allow me to 'see' it clearly enough)
On the plate it gives the consumption of the fridge using both gas and electricity.
You will be able to work out your usage of the fridge for the 12 nights.
The rest is riotous living like making tea and cooking food.

We have 14kg Alugas bottles, one 14 kg bottle lasts us 15 to 18 days providing we hardly use any heating. Hot water on every morning for showers only other main use is the fridge freezer (160 Lt). We don't use EHU.

Our and all 13 kg bottled holds 21 litres. Ours tends to last 21 days. Normal usage with maybe 6 showers and cooking and a big fridge freezer. So a litre a day on average.

We bank on using 1litre a day for cooking, hot water for washing, kettle etc and we use our oven regularly. We were 10 days away and refilled our 2x 6kg before we set off, on return did a refill and it was just 11 litres. So not far off. When we ventured into Europe on our first trip we toured for 6 weeks and on average used 1 litre a day. We have a large fridge freezer. I thought that was reasonable. Excludes any main gas heating as its always been reasonably warm and we don't have the boiler on all the time unless we need a shower etc.

Are you using it to heat water for showers and washing up ? If so, it sounds about right to me.

Have you had the fridge running on electric whilst on hookup? If so your consumption does seem rather high, and somewhat more than we use for similar use including the fridge - which does tend to be a gas guzzler.
For peace of mind I'd be getting a gas pressure test - it's amazing how an otherwise un-noticeable leak (no smell etc) can get through gas. Happened to us once in our early days.
If all okay I'd review ALL your gas use again.

Most of the time fridge and water are on electric.I did inadvertently leave the hot water on gas overnight once, and we have used gas for the fridge a couple of times, but only amounting to 4 or 5 hours in total.

One L of lpg is about 7kwh of energy. If, about half of that is going to the fridge, and the rest for the cooking and hot water, it makes the absorption cooling very inefficient. A compressor 50L fridge takes 0.25-0.35 kWh for 24h. The compressor will work wonders even with +40C outside.
We have a 20L lpg underslung tank, still half full. Last fill up was 15th of June, no EHU at all.

6 showers in 21 days, I wondered what the smell was.

Thanks all for your replies. A guide would seem to be about 1kg a day, in which case we are in line with that.
I wonder therefore if our original Gaslow tanks were bigger than I remembered :unsure::rolleyes:

We've got 2 x 6kg gaslow cylinders. With the fridge on gas, and cooking on average once a day they last about 4 weeks. Don't use heating and rarely use it for hot water.
Your usage sounds excessive to me.

That sounds a bit on the high side, we are high gas users and don't use quite that much.
Are you confusing Kg with Litres?
