Gas level question (1 Viewer)

Evening All,
wondered if anyone has fitted an in line gas level level gauge. Thinking about fitting one to the pigtail. Not even sure if this is a good idea? The bottles I often swap out are often too surface rusty for the mopeka to work.
also wondering if a pigtail change is a diy job or for a gas registered person?

The best that will show is gas pressure... Which will be constant until empty.. Not quantity
Any sensor needs to be in the bottle similar to a petrol tank gauge.

Is there no reduction in pressure on the bottle side of the regulator as the bottle empties? Please forgive the genuine noobie question.

re changing a pigtail. DIY job.??? Reason for asking is that the hab service bloke replaced my old one with a style that has a plastic “bit” that means it won’t fit on the collar of a smaller bottle.

The pressure stays the same as the liquid turns to vapour, it will only drop when the bottle is virtually empty.

Why not just have two bottles? When ones empty you have a week or two to replace the other one.
You can buy pigtails from the LPG shop.

Or weigh the bottle as you go with a cheap suitcase scale

I used the Mopeka device until it packed up after an update I now have the Truma one (same idea, just fits to the bottom of the gas bottle - refillable in my case). Pleased with it so far, and bought 2nd hand from a fellow funster so not too expensive!

Get your own nice new shiny gas bottles like Gaslow or GASIT and they instal Mopeka.

I presume you allready have a mopeka, if so clean up the gas bottle contact area with a wire brush. Mopeka suggest an ultrasonic grease, pherhaps a lm grease would do.
Changing a pigtail should be no more difficult than fitting an exchange bottle.

Ps ive not needdd to use grease yet, just move sensor around to get a sensible reading
