I have been considering fitting an inline gas leak detector in the gas bottle locker. On closer inspection of the pipework in the locker I noticed that on the regulator on/off valve there is another threaded union covered with a dust cap.
Can anyone confirm if this is a point to connect a leak tester and if so I would be very grateful to know where this item could be purchased.
Thank you

So if you turn on the gas for a cuppa it will sense you have a leak. The connector you are referring to is for connecting one of those long tubes that the gas guys use to measure pressure.

Gas leaks are very rare unless something had been distributed, if you have the van checked annually that should be OK. If you really want to you can have a leak test device fitted in line, they are more common on boats because a leak is far worse on a boat. The tester itself is another chance for a leak.
