Looking at one of the questions about the Aguri on Amazon it only accepts co-ords in two different formats, my Garmin accepts three. It would be worth checking if it accepts the ones you might need, for example those given in the ACSI book or All the Aires, if you use any of those.

One thing I've noticed about the Garmin.. With my sizes and weight ( 7m 2.3, 3, 4250t )... It basically treats me as HGV and routes accordingly - where possible.. On the occassion i've not used Basecamp...

Obviously this is not fool proof.. And there are lots of warnings about access on many roads... But it is at this point I pay more attention to surroundings and signage... I.e look for bus stops etc... Cos if a bus can get through... So can I.... Sorta thing. :)
Maybe I should increase the weight. We are about the same size (a little shorter) but only 3.5t.

We found some bus routes a little "tight" in Norfolk last year :)

Most of "pretty" Norfolk is "tight"... Lived there for 20 odd yrs... Often found myself at 30 deg from the horizontal on the verges... When passing other vehicles ( drivin car at the time )... And loosing the odd wing mirror ... It's as they say NFN... (Normal for Norfolk)..

I've yet to venture back to Norfolk in the MoHo... but At least I know what to expect...
Ps.. My Bro tells me far Nth of Scotland is just the same... I.e lots of "single track" A roads... :)

Good point, which Garmin do you have. We did have this problem while away in Europe this winter.

Mines an old Garmin Nuvi 155W. From memory, the formats are ddd.mm.ss or ddd.mm.mmm or ddd.ddddd which are degrees, minutes and second, then degrees with minutes with a decimal, or just decimal degrees.

I've now checked the books and ACSI uses degrees, minutes and seconds so that will be fine but All the Aires uses degrees and minutes only, for example W005° 19.552' which wouldn't work with the Aguri as I read the answer to the question. You could convert them but that would be pretty inconvenient.

CamperContact shows both degrees, minutes and seconds and decimal degrees. So I guess if you don't need All the Aires the Aguri would work with everything else.

I found the dimensions input a waste of time on the Garmin 760, it didn't make any difference, but when I input my weight as over 3.5t it stopped taking me down side streets where the limit was 3.5t. At least the weight limit database appears good.

However, as it's not always right (curious because it has a female voice ) I also use Co-pilot which tends to take a less extreme view of routing. However, on one memorable occasion I did end up with four opinions:

Garmin - go left
Co-pilot - go right
Wife - go straight on
Me - pull over and calm down.

Spot on. Like any computer, a sat nav is only a tool - and the right tool for you is the one which enables you to do what you want, nobody else (y)

One point I forgot about earlier.

I'm never sure about sat navs that incorporate dash cams. Dash cams have to be located so that they have a good view through the windscreen but sat navs must not obstruct the driver's view. It may be difficult to resolve the two in some cases.

We did a mini survey on here a could of months ago to see who used what and why, The Snooper came out as most popular in the 4/6 weeks the survey was up. We bought a Garmin last year for A French trip and it kept letting us down especially if lost!! Wouldn't let me key in the postcode we had. Ended up using my phone. That got us out of trouble a couple of times. We have just bought the Snooper having researched it, probably use it on a short trip to Somerset but really want it for a road trip for Spain Portugal and back through France, so will post my thoughts.

,,,think I'm right in saying that Aguri grew from Snooper...... so maybe same family,,, though independent.

I can only comment on the Aguri. It has done all that I asked it too.
I bought it via the offer in the C&CC club magazine.

Garmin for me. I have a 660 zumo for the motorbike and a camper 760 for the motorhome. I did use the 660 in the motorhome but it thought it was on the bike and routed as such. As you can imagine that was sometimes fun. Basecamp is very useful for route planning once you get used to it. They are quite expensive but you get what you pay for. The camper only recognises the motorhome dimensions if you put the weight in as over 3.5t. Anything under this it sees as a car.

We have a Garmin in the car and a Garmin760 Camper in the motorhome. We bought the Camper version after the standard car unit led us down a very tight road.

No problems with either in their correct vehicle. I do feel that the Garmin Camper eras on the side of caution. For example, I leave my house and drive, comfortably, through the village centre. The Satnav tells me to avoid the village and take a longer route.

I can live with that as "safety first".

The Aguri is preloaded with all the aires and ACSI sites so you don't really need to enter co-ords,,BUSBY.

So is the Garmin Camper.

If you buy through the Caravan and Motorhome Club all their sites and CLs are also preloaded.

Just bought an Aguri with the built in dashcam.

It comes with a disc that you can stick on the dash & mount the satnav on it - sits in middle of dash not obscuring the view of the road & the dashcam is framed perfectly.

First impressions very good, simple inputs & loads of specialist POI's for campsites, aired, LOG etc etc.

Got mine brand new for £199- didn't want an app for phone as it rings quite often & didn't want to lose the map in the middle of a busy junction/city.

As mentioned takes a minute to start up as android based.

I have been caravanning for 32 years but in 2014 I have"gone over to the dark side"
looking for some feedback on either of these sat nav's please. Garmin RV760LMT or the Aguri RV700 DVR, both are for motorhomes and both do Europe which is a must. Anyone got one, good and bad points please. Or any other recommendations. Thanks in advance.

Garmin!! :)
