All the gear, and no idea!
Has anyone found a way of running basecamp and/or Garmin express on a new Mac Book?
Ive looked on the Garmin website and it appears that the Mac won’t recognise the internals of the Garmin unit, therefore it won’t lay the map base on basecamp so on the screen I have the basic global map. Nor can I transfer any data from the mac to the unit.
Funnily enough it all works with my 14 yr old motorcycle zumo 660!
Is the TomTom camper compatible with the new Mac book?

you can run parallels on the Mac and run windows for anything that only runs on windows you can run on startup or within a window when in the Mac OS but mine was a bit glitchy but did work

I have the same problem with my Garmin sat nav, I use a Chromebook and the Garmin software isn't compatible so I can't do updates.
Daughter used her apple laptop to update last year but not ideal 😕

Edit : I thought Garmin were compatible with Apple Mac hardware stuff ?

Is your new Mac Intel based cpu? Guess you'll have sufficient memory.

Mac® Requirements

  • Intel-based Mac running OS 10.13 or higher
  • 1024 MB or RAM (2048 MB recommended)
Have you plugged the sat nav into the Mac and then run Express?

If your zumo 660 is still being recognised and it is updatable to the latest maps (2025.10) you could install them to your new Mac using that sat nav.

Apple haven't used Intel chips for a while now. All the M1, M2 and M3 chips are in-house designs using Arm architecture.

I’ve been updating my Garmin Nüvi 3598 sat nav using my ancient Mac Air for 6 years now. There were initially problems with the Mac not finding the Garmin when using Garmin Express. However, this issue is resolved by deleting all user data on the Garmin before trying to connect. Once done, the Mac‘sees’ the Garmin.
It is a bit of an annoyance to delete user data as it includes all trip data but that is usually easily re-inputted.

I wondered how I sent it to you, looked through old note books for drawing and what’s app and txts for sending it to you but couldn’t find anything, I never thought to look on here🤦‍♂️👍
