I have a beautiful garage floor in my new Motorhome, so nice I don’t want to put anything on it, my wife said that was a bit silly and asked me to get someone to put a floor covering in there, I have found the best guy ever, nothing was too much for him, intelligent witty but also very skilled, he laid the floor as can be seen in the pictures below, he cut around the anchor points with precision, not the sort of work you would expect nowadays, he also used a really strong and hard wearing padded matting, the skilled craftsman was 596 ??. I must say I’m quite proud of myself, beats typing crap on a forum all day ?

I can always lift it to admire the Swift craftsman ship of the original floor anytime, should give sound insulation and stop stuff skidding around ?

Looks a nice job, I did the same under my side seat floor bases as it also insulates. (y)

Ooh. I could do with that. I used carpet tiles that are heavy!

Persian rug for me .......

I bought mine from Aldi, it had been reduced in price, sports matting. Its quite light foam type mats that clips together and can be cut easily with a craft knife.

BUT was in store cheaper a few weeks ago and you have to buy 2 packs online, maybe share with someone, £29 on ebay!

I used a VERY sharp knife and cut it over an upturned cardboard box using a spirit level as a straight edge, and used a hole cutter for the tie down strap fittings (y)

You have made a brilliant job of that 596,,well done.BUSBY.

Thanks that's very kind of you, I have just been horrified as I noticed dust in there when loading the pics  will be out first thing in the morning to sort that out, sorry its not my usual standard (y)

Will keep the dive gear safe ;)

I have some left so tomorrow may line the upper part of the garage under the seats (y)

I have B&Q Chequer Plate Lino, cheap as chips, and easy to wipe and keep clean , that stuff will be a mare. Plus that will be grippy so you cant slide things in easily, which is a major thing for me .

Also dark , so sucks the light out of it too.

I just had mine out for a clean seeing as I emptied her , and its like new underneath despite being almost 18 years old.

I have always toyed with properly fitting out the garage, but I have 3 totally different things it needs to do, and anything bespoke for one gets in the way of the other.

I fitted it so things DO NOT slide. plus I have lights in there so nothing is in the dark :D, its also padded so protects the dive gear (y)

Everyone has different needs , but there is no way I am getting things in the back of there without them sliding across the floor.

Craftsmanship and Swift in the same sentence, that’s a new one on the forum.:D2

Yes it’s tough but you know what, I had a Kontiki for 9yrs, kept it like new, never missed a beat, was concerned about the new ones but had to take the plunge, when you look past the sloppy workmanship of a few bits, all cosmetic, they are actually nicely thought out and finished with an amazing amount of kit for the money. I scoured every mm of mine and had everything put right before I bought it, I did have an issue with the drop down bed and the dealer fixed it, but guess what, tomorrow I have two technicians from the factory attending my house to double check all the work and ensure everything is safe, I doubt it has anything to do with the letter I sent warning them I would be suing them after it collapsed.

Lets see what tomorrow brings ?

I fitted a very large dirt grabber mat in ours (like a very large Turtle one), which is rubber underneath and has cotton twill pile on top. It will help insulate the floor and stop it getting marked plus the cotton tufts means stuff can't move around on it's own but is easy enough to move if we want it to which is important for us as we have crates and a wheeled trunk in ours. I did think of using something like 596 has but it can be easily get damaged/cut if you're not careful and also when stuff has been sitting in one spot for a while you get indentations so trolley wheels etc get stuck in ruts.

I put a plywood deck in mine, but as we are little people, we didn’t need all the height for the bikes, so I raised it a bit. I rested the supports on non-slip matting, and it stayed in place and worked really well. Bikes, cold box, bbq etc on top, Lafuma recliners slid underneath, so they can popped out a moments notice for a spot of relaxing. It was a super system, kept everything beautifully organised and accessible.

Excellent workmanship, love the cuts around the anchor points. The whole job looks really good and a great addition to the garage, thanks for sharing.

Thanks, just did the upper garage both sides under seating area as I have a U shaped lounge, this flooring is not the cheap stuff and is used in gyms so should last, it’s about £28 a pack on eBay but I got it from Costco for £12 so not bad and has covered the whole garage, I also wanted to protect the brand ne motorhome from getting any marks on it ?

The height of the flooring is just right to ensure the anchor straps don’t catch on anything as you slide anything in ?

We tried that stuff but it ripped when sliding stuff in.
Now have thick rubber matting
