What games do people take with them on their travels?

We have Uno and Backgammon so far, although we do have Scrabble at home its not a good one to take as Mark can't spell ;)

We've got travel words with friends, it's the same as scrabble and comes in a small plastic case.

Also new for this year I bought the newly released mini Super Nintendo with 100 odd games. It runs off a USB socket and plugs into the hdmi socket on the TV. Hours of fun. Ann loves Tetris, 2 player, I love it even more as I consistently thrash her at it (y)

Explainer for old people: Super Nintendo (or SNES) was originally released in 1991 and was the companies flagship console at the time along with Super Mario World game. It sold in millions and was replaced in about 1996 with the Nintendo 64.
The new mini Super Nintendo is only about the size of 2 fag packets, about £60 and if you look on ebay you can get new ones that people have put the 80 odd extra games on. Highly recommended (y)

Backgammon and Scrabble for us.

Nothing nicer on a wet and windy afternoon than a couple of single malts and a game of backgammon, with the added bonus that the board makes a good serving tray

Rummikub is a good one. Can be played by all levels as can become a tactical game.

Kalaha or Mancala

We take a bottle of whisky which we drink together, then one of us goes outside and the one that's left has to guess who it was.

We are Rummicub mad! We managed to get a Six player set which Lyn and I will happily play on our own to make it more complicated.

I know its an outdoor game... but i do like a game of boules while polishing off a couple of bottles of quality red

Another vote for Rummikub, bit addictive and can get very competitive

We’ve recently been introduced to Shut The Box, which we’re finding quite addictive...

Not heard of this one and will look into it.

I've heard of cribbage before, but another one to look into.

Mark's just bought a travel version to add to backgammon and Uno.

Seen this one around, but we don't have it, so I'll check this one out as well.

Ticket To Ride, kingdomino, Azul, Carcassone, Isle of Skye, all fabulous games. Carcassone and ticket to ride need a fairly large table. Card games, Five Crowns and Quiddler, (word making card game) both good games for two.

Mexican Train Dominos, but ideally you need 4 players and to complete from 12 down to zero you need at least 5 hours, so best played over 2 sessions.

Connect four, Cards Against Humanity ( shockingly un-PC and given to me by one of my sons(!)) & a dodgy game called Monogamy which we have yet to take the cellophane off as it looks a bit racy!!!

Woman refuses to play Gammon with me ( I play a LOT of Gammon, mainly on line tournaments ) , but we still carry a board
Play scrabble and various card games inc crib, and indeed rumicub

Probably the game we play most is dominos 3's and 5's

If we have friends with us then pictionary is great after a few drinks, thought my sides were going to split with laughter the last time we played it

Or even Jenga

4 of us once decided to play dominos but we're a bit merry and had no dominoes. So used blank Jenga blocks !!!
Putting them down and making random numbers up was hilarious, well it was to us ...

Oh... And I once won a sex board game in a funster raffle...
Only issue was that it was just after a heart attack and by pass surgery. I held back from playing that one !!!!!
And I won't spill the beans on who bought it off me.. your secrets safe mo. (y)

Do you ever get to any of the Fun rallies, Frankie? Those are my sort of games. (y) Myself and @catspyjamas like to meet up and play board games from time to time. She has just taught me Azul - which has more going on than is immediately obvious. :) Another favourite of ours is Grand Austria Hotel. And I particularly like The Bloody Inn, tho’ I usually manage to make a hash of managing my accomplices.

Pass the Pigs.
Pack of cards.
5 dice/die and a Yahtzee score pad.

All smaller than a pack of fags and plenty of options with cards.

@Frankiej we seem to be on the same wavelength! I haven't played Isle of Skye yet and would love to try it out. In return, @maz and I could introduce you to Grand Austria Hotel!
