Geoffvanbitz is on the Van Bitz stand at the Peterborough show and is thinking about buying a G Tech electric bike

Any reason he shouldn't?

None if he has some good reason for needing an electric bike...
If he's fit and able bodied then a proper push bike would be better.. :D
Just my view... :reel::imoutahere:

If you are serious about ebikes, I would avoid personally. No gears, non standard battery, belt driven and none standard hubs brakes and running gear.

Some thing about GTECH that I don't like, all the gear they sell looks too flash to be true, especially the e bike.

Buy a pedal bicycle.
One tenth of the price, far far lighter, far more stowable, far less attractive to thieves, will last far longer; and far better at keeping you fit and healthy.
Pour the money saved into wine....:D

Surely any discerning Vanbitzer would have one of these electric beauties

Or maybe one of these - or possibly both

We tested the Gtech bikes last year when we were exploring the world of electric bikes.
We were impressed by their simplicity and convenience, the drive belt and lack of gears made life very easy ( the off-road bike was not then available). In the end we didn't follow them up because a) we live in the Cotswolds and felt we needed the gears to get the most out of any bike on the hills and b) Halfords we're doing a very good deal on their Carrera which had good reviews, tested well and has proved an excellent buy.
If our circumstances had been different we'd have been very tempted by the Gtech, especially as it had a money back test period. I think with any bike it depends on you and how you plan to use the bike.

Surprised Dyson haven't marketed one.

Over priced for what it is.
If Dyson (a British company) made Motorhomes, which brand would they be most like (head between legs, awaiting incoming)

Plenty but just a few for now, hub drive, tiny battery, pathetic range if they state 30 miles probably be lucky to get 20.
Spend a bit more and buy something decent with a Bosch Crank drive.

Very surprised that Eddie Van Bitz needs to ask the question in the first place, considering he sells and installs quality kit.

Gtech bikes are crap - no if's or but's.

i tried a few ebikes ,i did not like the ballance of the hub motors,i guess they will be allright for pottering around ,but we like to do a few KM,s on ours so we went for Haibikes with the Yamaha motors, they have 16 gears and all shimano brakes twin discs , we have ridden round Rutland water on one charge ,we have spent days going up and down hills in the peaks ,in short we love them

tell him to go for a decent ebike @eddievanbitz

One thats "designed" in the UK and built for peanuts in a foreign country on a shoe string :)

Ah yes - and thus actually profitable then for the shareholders who've risked their money to support the business.....which'll include our pension funds, our ISA's etc so that we benefit from dividend yield without having to do the work.
And thus also providing sustainable jobs for all the design, engineering, marketing, logistics, R & D, warehousing, accounting, management, advertising, purchasing, quality control, and other UK staff, as well as funding all the massive amounts of UK Corporation tax, income tax, Employers NIC's and Employees NIC's, Business rates, VAT and all the indirect taxes that the business and its UK employees and distributors and retailers and others contribute to the UK economy.

Do you have one, or even ridden one ? I have and for the money, it's great. Does all I want it to. So, there's an if or but for you. :)

Yes, Ive ridden one and as stated previously, I think they are CRAP.

Have you ever ridden a Haibike, Scott, Trek or Kalkhoff - try one then you'll understand my sentiments.
