Crumbs. Is there a way of knowing it is fuses when something goes wrong, please? I would have paid out for new bulbs ... and wasted my money again... :(

fuses were ok, bad connection on dip bulb and main, all working but aim adjuster is running all the time lights on so not quite sure whats going on so I am going to put a new headlight assembly in as I have had a few problems and it has a bit of corrosion where it had got water in it.hope that sorts it

If you mean headlamp auto-levelling system is working constantly there will be position sensors somewhere on the front and rear suspension arms.
The system senses the vehicle isnt level (via a preset reference point) by calculating the difference in the two sensor readings and adjusting accordingly.

If you can find the sensors simply disconnect one......the self levelling wont work but it will confirm if the sensors are bad or not.

No John we don't have auto levelling on X250 headlamps
BTW headlights (new) can be found on ebay around £60 if you look

the plastic block on the dip bulb connecter look like it had been hot so took the the contacts out of block and put on bulb and it worked then, high beam bulb was a bit intermittent so new bulb put in and all working, can only assume adjuster motor running all the time made bulb connecter hot, presumably it takes its power from the bulb or I have a short
