Hi Everyone

I've started this new thread to keep the list on the first page as we keep losing it! We can then add book choices on this thread and I'll update as I get notified and any who wants to join us bookworms can let me know via this thread too. We can then have individual threads for each month/book for the discussions. Hope this is ok for everyone, any suggestions let me know.

As we're going travelling next week until October and I don't know how much Internet access we'll have I've put a first idea of my book for October. This is usually available in charity shops or to borrow from libraries if you don't want to buy it full price.

The book I'm thinking about is:

The Island by Victoria Hislop

I'll stick with this choice unless it's been read by most of you already.

Love this book ... My friend went to visit after reading the book and said it was still just as described. :)

Is there a thread where we can discuss the book when we've all read it? I've searched but can't find anything.

Thanks for that. Do we wait to see what the proposer of the book writes regarding their recommendation or do we wade straight in with our thoughts? (Never been a member of a book club before!)
Yes just wade in with your thoughts as soon as you're ready. We will all add our thoughts and comments when we are ready too. Look forward to discussing these with you

Is there any way of checking everyone has finished the book before we start to comment on it? Wouldn't want to ruin it for anyone!

Well, I enjoyed the book and it was well written. Having lived in Liberia for three years though, I think he painted a 'Born Free' type picture, so a bit more reality in and out wouldn't have gone amiss. Corruption was rife when we were there and there was no mention of that, but we were in West Africa, so it may not have been as bad where he was.

Not sure about the cheetah's antics either, And I certainly didn't see the split with the wife coming!

Never done a book review before, so Looking forward to what everyone else has to say. :)
