We've been talking about this great bit of kit a lot over the past few weeks. It's simple to fit and uses your alternator to charge your batteries 5 times faster than a hook up or a genny.

At a quarter of the price of a Honda Generator it not only keeps our leisure batteries charged but it's sophisticated 4 step charger keeps them in tip-top condition. (y)

I have a deal with someone who will sell me 6 at an Excellent price. They normally retail at around £339. Some dealers discount them to around £300. If I buy 6 I can supply them to Funsters at just £260 plus £10 P&P (to UK addresses)

I've put them in the shop, at this price I doubt they will be there long. :) The deal can only go ahead if I sell all six. If you buy and I don't sell the six by this time next week; your money will be returned in full.

If you want to claim one. Buy it and/or shout up here

Not clear if this is an A2B or a B2B device though? Picture is a bit fuzzy

Can an idiot fit them Jim?

Just asking like:D
NO you will need tools and ability and other parts like heavy duty cable crimps inline fuse besides nowse. Instructions are straight forward but you need to know your vehicle and where to run the cables.
Suitable for accomplished DIY'ers

you and me both Chris, I nearly wrote off a Maxi some years ago thinking how hard can it be to fit your own fog lights

That was all the French gendarmes fault, back in the 70's you needed fog lights in France, allegedly ;)

Anyway the Maxi wiring loom did not like my fitting attempt and caught fire

I'm liking the looks of these :)

Questions:
Do they increase the wear rate of the alternator if it's working to it's max capacity?

Anyone got a schematic drawing of exactly how we connect it ourselves and where have you located it on your motorhome. Mines a 2006 Ducato cab.

And there was me looking at a genny. Could save me a few bob or two :)

Thanks for sorting this out for us all Jim, I want one, but want to be sure I can wire it in correctly and safely first :)

Edit. Just googled and found this thanks Funsters.

The guy at a&ncaravan and motorhome services who are Hymer electroblock specialists says it increases wear on the alternator, which is one of the reasons he doesn't recommend them.

That's the problem, everyone has different opinions, all I can say we had one on our last MH and it was wonderful, coupled to 2 Rolls Surrette 6 volt traction batteries.

Paul.

I think the X250 and Ducato alternator is 150 amp? should be easy for it

Do you really need one though? I'm trying to get over the "me too, me too" syndrome when there is a toy to be bought and fitted!

Looks like a good solution since we wild camp a lot.. Despite buying two new batteries I still don't feel we get much use out of them before they discharge.

In that case you could be correct...... we tend to have EHU when on site for more than a night and any non-EHU is a transit stop so the battery will charge as we drive to and from the stop-over.

How long do the batteries last and what are you running on them?

Having had a good read of the product download, it looks really easy to fit, just so long as you have the battery type selector switch set correctly (LED, sealed, jell battery etc), which is clearly shown on the top of the charger :)

Also be aware of the warning on the charger that fast charging costs water, so ensure battery level is checked regularly :)

Having just returned from cornwall & having stopped & talked about these @ a well known supplier on here I am very tempted & brassic but still tempted & I am competent enough to fit it myself.

If this deal does not go through and I cant get 6 buyers, then your best bet would probably be to buy one of Eddie Vanbitz as Funsters get 10% off the retail. Vanbitz would professionally fit as well expect. (y)
