I will be travelling with a friend from the Bilbao ferry on Sunday 4th April to Zaragosa then across country to Vinaros a total distance of 380 miles.

My van only has a range of 250 miles (its auto on 3880Kg). We will leave UK with full tanks but need to fill up on the way. Our concern is that being a religious country will garages only be open on the motorway or will these be shut as well.

Thanks in anticipation for your help.

Hi there,

I've travelled this route many times as well as travelling in Spain over the Easter period.

While you are correct in your assessment of Easter being important to the Spanish, they also get out and about in numbers over the Easter period and main route filling stations will be open. Please note that some campsites can come under pressure from Spaniards over the Easter weekend. If the weather is good and you don't wish to be kept awake late, then it is best to avoid accumulations of Spanish campers in my experience. They like to sit out and socialise well into the night.

I would recommend that you fill up in the Western half of your cross country journey. Towards the east you have to pass through a tortuous hilly area around Morella and while it is very beautiful, filling stations are much less frequent. The fuel gauge can go down alarmingly in the mountains!

You wont have any problems finding garages open down to Zaragosa from Bilbao but if you want to stop over in Zaragosa i would book it as many Spanish like to go out Easter even if the weather is not good, there is a site in Zaragosa that is not bad but as said before Spanish like to talk into the night:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:Just be careful if you only want to park up to sleep anywhere near there.
