Drove from near Fontainbleau to Epernay today. One the main road through Melun both Total petrol stations shut. There was ordinary diesel on the motorway, but guess what, up in price. They were out of the super diesel. At Epernay the out off own L'Eclerc super store had queues at the pumps, but others in the town looked OK.

Just got an email from my son who is currently near Dinan, all fuel stations closed in the area. He's okay, has enough to get to Cherbourg.

I think it is just a way of the French government getting rid of used and un-recycle able tyres, let the workers do it!

What is with the frogs wanting to burn tyres at the slightest blink.

Time to top up with vegetable oil if your pump will allow it.

& why aren't they arrested ? It is an environmental offence in any EU state. I'd just change the water cannon to petrol :)

It's a learning curve
French news reports tonight state severe shortages. Only 3 from 8 refineries still open. We live in Brittany but were travelling from The Loire back home today. En route we managed to top up with 30 litres of diesel at a station on a toll road. All of the other stations we passed were closed or had limited unleaded but no diesel.
There is going to be a general strike across France this Thursday which may involve blockades on roads, as the farmers are also coming out in support, and they love a good road block.
This is the culmination of weeks of unrest and rioting about the changes being taken through by M Hollande.

I decided after yesterday that i am done with the place, will spend as little time as i can there, and buy nothing ever again. I have lost count of the number of trips i have had compromised by their antics, we were looking at going to Spain this weekend as a last minute jaunt, to support a friend racing out there , but i doubt he will get there , after making plans all year .. they can all rot, another reason to get the hell out of the EU .

I'm heading over 4th July, hopefully all be done and dusted by then?
I bet if I mention I'm English they will let me to the front of the queue, you know, the good old Entente Cordiale
Else 2 months in Calais, next to Friterie de Nation and after all, Calais has a nice beach!

Probably cause another strike if they did. I agree with you though.

Because the garages that had run out were closing we were unable to top off our refillable LPG (GPL) tanks.

We're now feeling relieved that we're getting the tunnel home tomorrow before this gets worse.

We'll spend the night at Cite Europe, to be sure we get there in good time.

Anyone coming over fill up before leaving UK. Drove down from St Malo this morning huge queues at the few garages with fuel many closed. We managed to top up at services on N24 just East of Ploermel, there were queues and restrictions on filling containers of any sort. We are currently on a campsite at Le Roc St Andre owner tells me the same garage had none yesterday so will run out quickly, naturally price hiked to 1.289 euro. Noticed a few modern cars abandoned at roadsides guessing out of fuel and hgv traffic very scarce.
