Is there one? My local Morrisons was closed one day last week and today there is no diesel. Is the media keeping something quiet to avoid the panic buying like last year?

Don't think so, they are more likely to start the rumour and stoke the panic.

We saw that in Morrisons in Gravesend on the way to the tunnel except they had run out of petrol and we could fill up easily. I assumed it was because they were cheaper than everyone else.

No problem here in the east.

At one end of our village is a large garage on the A14 which is out of diesel virtually all the time, which appears to be because as drivers come along and see a garage, they pull in to top up with maybe a fiver or tenners worth to keep their tank full "just in case"

What happened to the 5p tax relief?
Sainsbury haven't lowered their price.

Went past yesterday....170.9p (has been slowly rising to this)

Went past today.....173.9p...3p overnight

Eventually in Shropshire they have dropped petrol and Diesel a little.
But LPG has not changed.

The wholesale price of fuel went up about the same amount as the 5p reduction.

There doesn't appear to be a shortage of petrol or diesel here in the PE6 area, but there is a definite shortage of Autogas and we have 5 x outlets, with only 1 x still dispensing, but at £0.99ppl. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

here they reduced all types of fuel by 20c per litre or kilo , as from friday
. 15c from gov.es & 5c from the companies.
2,50€ off a 12,5 kg butane bottle.(y)

Must have both been on the same day.
It never went down here to go back up.
I saw the ragheads are indecisive about cutting production to keep the price up.

But as you know, unlike Spain our gov have no say in the price of fuel......maybe a good thing knowing our gov.

Funny you mention this, was in Tesco fuel this afternoon and there were "NO DIESEL" signs on every pump

Near Rushden in Northamptonshire found three stations with no fuel of any discription.

Don't worry food shortages next, well almost inevitable.
With stagflation and loss of jobs, higher costs of raw materials due partly to red diesel use being withdrawn today in Quarries and many other industries used.
No need to worry at all.

Ours did drop when the duty reduced but has crept up since.

No problems around Plymouth

Plenty of fuel around here but as others say, it has gone back up from £1.70.9 after the tax reduction to £1.73.9 again

Good point, our quarry had our first delivery of white diesel on Tuesday, maybe lots of tankers of white are being rerouted to industry for the roll out of white from tomorrow🤷‍♂️

Should not make any difference as I was told by a guy I knew that worked in the oil refining industry that before the fuel went into the delivery tanker whether it be petrol or diesel, it has no additives, and the additives are added as the delivery tanker is filled and one of these additives would be the red dye if it was going to be a red diesel delivery, so until that point it is white diesel.

I can only speak for the north west but there isn't any shortage currently. There are suggestions that there will be protests at UK refineries in the next week which may cause disruption. Prices did come down a little but refining margins/cost of crude have increased again. Diesel margins have gone up to their peak again but petrol seems to be dropping off.

The website below gives some info on margins for crude/refining/fuels. Not particularly exciting but if anyone was interested! As you can probably tell I work in the industry 🤓

Very useful information. I wonder what the retail margins are averaging at?

Tesco with us have a few pumps off. Its probably because the fuel there is 10p a litre cheaper than the other garages and people will now rather wait and queue at the cheaper garages than pile more profits into those that are north of £180 a litre

I work in refining so not really privy to the retail margins but found this article....

Peter Regnier of Oil Price Assessments Limited said OPAL's provisional end-of-week profit margin enjoyed by petrol retailers had declined to 3.65 pence a litre from 5.9p last week and 7.8p at the very end of December.
