We have driven down from St Malo yesterday to Niort last night and St Jean de Luz today. We filled up in Portsmouth anticipating possible problems but so far, have seen no queues or difficulties. We decided to fill up when he we reached half full and had plenty of opportunities to do so.
We topped up on the A10 at Bordeaux with no problem so tomorrow we'll cross into Spain and can report we had no problem getting diesel.

We're at honfleur, and have seen no sign of trouble, probably down to the damp miserable weather.

From the Guardian on Friday 5 January 2020:

"The hardline CGT union has called for a complete blockade of oil refineries from Tuesday to Friday, which would lead to shortages at petrol stations and bring the country to a standstill. The government has said such action would be illegal.
Workers at the state-owned SNCF railways and the Paris transport network, the RATP, began their industrial action on 5 December, and have been joined by teachers, hospital staff and other public sector workers. Last Friday, the collective SOS Retraites – “SOS Pensions” – said it would be joining the protests; its 700,000 members cover a range of self-employed workers in the private sector, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, airline staff and accountants."

So Tuesday to Friday would embrace the 7th to 9th.
In any event, we will be in Spain later this morning. (y)

Apologies for wrong date, but surprised there was no French news this week, even if only to say there was no problem.

Isn't diesel cheaper in Spain than France.. ? If so surely worth waiting till you cross the border?

AlCampo at Irun is presently 1.209 for Diesel.
On the 'Shortcut' to avoid Zaragoza between La Amunia de Dona Godina and Carinena, there is an independent garage selling at €1.179.

Similar to the Noravirus and Rotavirus outbreaks in the UK. It happens every winter, wherever you are.

No fuel shortages where we are in a Brittany and no sign of any strikes or industrial action anytime this week.

It is much cheaper in Spain but we didn't know whether we'd have enough diesel to reach Spain. So we put 20 litres in on the A10. I'm still weeping. €1.88 per litre! Have found diesel in Spain at €1.22 per litre. :crying1:
