Converted caravanner!
Looks like the recent freezing cold snap has damaged all 3 of our mixer taps in the van.
I drained everything down before Christmas but once finished I shut the taps back down. I think this must have been the cause.
Unfortunately only discovered when we filled up on site where we are staying for the week, which is a bugger! So quickly emptied the system.
Gutted as there must have been the smallest amounts of residual water in the taps.
So now will either have to take into Southdowns to fix which is 50 miles each way, unless any recommendations for someone closer to Ringwood.

Are the actual taps damaged or is it just the internal cartridge. The cartridge should be easy to replace.

Difficult to tell at the moment as I just wanted to stop the leaking so quickly drained everything down.
But welcome any advice.

If it is only the taps it should be fairly easy to change them yourself, shower ones can be tricky gaining access but the sink and wash basin will be easy.

Maybe worth trying Autovan at Colehill near Wimborne.

What about Reliance Motorhome & Caravan Services.(Chichester)
They are also Carthago approved repairers I believe with a good reputation also.
Good Luck, see link below.

I've changed a few taps to whatever was near same size in B&Q bargain bin.

If they are the same type as your home taps then you just need to get similar replacements, if they have microswitches though your looking at an expensive fix I'm afraid as they are not cheap.

It's a Carthago so it will be a be pressure switched pump so no microswitches.

That's good news then ... loads of choice and a lot cheaper, he just needs to make sure he gets the right size for the orifices.

As he was looking for someone to do the job might be easier although more expensive to buy straight replacements. Also a heavy brass one might not be suitable on a plastic wash basin.

I replaced our bathroom mixer with a Bristan taps from Screwfix. Good price and long guarantee. It’s possible to buy speedfit tails for 12mm pipe, commonly found in motorhomes, making the replacement job very straightforward.

Good luck.

Appreciate the comments. Have been quoted £457 just for the 3 taps from Southdowns plus £118/hr labour. Expensive mistake! Will make a few calls to the others suggested.

TheMachMan try Caravan Solutions in Romsey, excellent service and sensible prices. The changed a roof light for me , Southdowns price was over £200 higher. I have been going to Caravan Solutions for many years, as does a relative, never a problem...(.BTW I did use Autovan Wimborne many years ago for some Eldiss Warranty work , and was messed about on three occasions )
